Hey I'm loving the new progress on the build! But I just noticed something... I still don't have LED's in my car!!! lol

i've been like, in edmonton these past 2-3 months, PM me your number, i'm coming to calgary this weekend, we'll do the trunk and dome light LED mod, don't have much more time for anything, i'm pretty busy right now

the mod took me like 2 hours, now if i subtract the time cooking, eating, and watching stuff, it's about 10 minutes to do all 3 of them XD

I got my A-pillar in today from Lo-tek and it's a pretty nice gauge pillar, came with two 1 inch screws and 2 screw caps




i took out the passenger a-pillar and washed it along with the gauge pillar and than i spray painted them both black so that they would both match (even though the gauge pillar was close to if not the same color as the paint, semi-gloss black)
now i'm not going to lie, i totally forgot to take pictures while i was doing the installation, i'm sorry. (was doing preparations for leaving town while doing this)
here's my steps
1. wash pillar(s) with soap and dry
2. paint pillar(s)
3. wait for paint to dry and eat munchies
4. repeat steps 2&3 for more coats
*note* the provided screws are WAY too short for our cars, so get 2 inch (maybe 1.5 inch might work too) screws that have generally fine threads (same thread as provided screws is best)
5. put gauge pillar on for mock up and use a drill bit or anything else to mark the screw hole locations (make sure drill bit isn't bigger than screw and screw threads, i used 1/8)
6. use a punch and drill holes, now this steps kind of tricky because i used a regular cordless drill and it's difficult with the bottom screw hole because of the limited space, for '94 at least, maybe 92-93 is roomier. Anyways, try to make your holes straight with the pillar, or else the screw won't sit properly in the gauge pillar screw holes (its ok if it isn't exact, there's a little bit of play room, but of course try, everyone wants a nice job done)
7. loosely fit in your gauges and hook up your gauges and mount the gauge pillar, careful of tubing/wiring locations when putting in the screw, then rotate gauges to desired angle and push them in all the way (if you have a gauge lock like my autometer did then you have to put the gauge in before you mount the pillar, just double/triple check the gauge angle is right)
8. put the screw caps on and your done!

(i need to take another picture against a blank background from a different angle for Lo-tek so i'll post that up when i take that picture)


ignore that i only have one gauge, i haven't decided what i want for a second gauge, i'm thinking air/fuel or oil pressure

company wise? or types of gauges?
i'll just assume company, uhh, well i did a LOT of reading on this and in the end it ended up being Defi ($200-300 gauges) and autometer, and prosport for cheap gauges that seem to good and bad for some people

uhh, i guess i just kind of assumed you guys knew (not sure why)

but the gauge i have is a autometer boost gauge, and i'm planning oil pressure or air/fuel but i'm not sure yet

so i installed my "MS" horn button a little bit ago but i didn't take a picture of it till today, i waited because i wanted to show you guys the finished product along with what happens to eBay steering wheels after they've been in the sun/car for a while



much better than the "JDM" one that came with the wheel (ignore the nismo lanyard, i forgot my keys in the house so i used my gf's spare key)

update!

so i have to give dillon some thanks for giving me his spare hood latch, apparently that's all i needed to secure my hood, i thought it was the hood bent out of shape so i drove with the straps on for way too long.

so yay! no more straps on my car! i'll take some picture of how it looks and the damage the straps caused soon

thanks again for the latch, it was a nice trip back to edmonton without the strap buzzing, but it's kind of funny cause for the first little bit i was trying to figure out what was wrong because something was different XD

yay for no more straps!


just need to get a new hood and bumper, but it all doesn't look that bad, so money's going to some strut mounts and then a clutch and g-series tranny first
