I didn't see this link posted yet, or I missed it. Have all you B6/BP guys seen the "Mazda 4 cylinder Engine History and Interchangability Guide"?

I just started this swap. I bought...
-Escort GT 1.8L engine complete w/ all accessories. (Junkyard) $116
-Protege G-series trans w/ jackshaft (Junkyard) "jackshaft" is used improperly on this part so you guys know. $100
-Miata 1.8L flywheel (had)
-Escort GT clutch kit $100 (Autozone) Miata clutch kit is $200+ for some reason.
-Protege valve cover (said Mazda on it) $20
I have some confusion about engine mounts and halfshafts. I'm pretty sure I need Protege halfs? Which engine mounts? Do I reuse the original B6's mounts or the Protege's?
What are you guys paying for BP fwd engines? I can get 3 more. =) There's only one trans left though and I'm grabbing it for a spare.
My old engine is a stock B6 w/ vj14 turbo (9psi) and F series trans. I'll be selling the whole setup when I do the swap if anyone needs it.

I want to do this swap this week.
This saturday, I'm buying an engine. If its there.
I've ordered a full gasket set.
I want to just bolt it up to my 93 tranny. When that toasts, it no big deal, I can just get another. I know people to tow me home, a shop to work in.
I plan on getting the engine, IM and Exhaust manifold, and compooter. ~$250.

I got my BP swap finished tonight. The BF ecu and maf is running it just fine. =) I used the BF's injector harness and had to swap the temp sensor from the BF to the BP, because the plug was different, and spliced the IAC connector from the BP harness onto my BF harness. That plug is different as well. I don't have the fuel regulator solinoids connected. I used the BP fuel rail and regulator but ran the vac line right to the manifold. I will reconnect the 2 stage regulator but I'll have to move the mount for it, on the fuel rail, 90deg. VICS is also connected and working using the original solinoid. The egr will be reconnected to the vac lines/solinoid/ecu but it'll just hang there under the mani. This will keep the check engine light off. I bought new Protege axles as well.
NOTE: When installing the rear engine mount, REVERSE THE BOLT!! Make sure the nut is on the DRIVERS SIDE or the shift linkage will hit it. I didn't see this at first because I had a buddy "helping". The linkage hits the bolt!! I flipped the whole linkage upside down as a temp fix for now but I'll have to mod the trans end of it and move the bolt holes over about 1/2".
For some reason my fans won't turn on and I'll overheat if I'm not moving. They both kick on with the a/c so I assume it's the sending unit or wiring.
HELP!! What year/make/model speed sensor do I need?

Hey all, jsut wanted to say this site helped immensely in my BP swap into my 93RS. The swap is complete any everything works great except for my temp guage which pegs itself to the hot position as soon as you turn the key. I have read some other people's posts about the same problem (TREVO123, mfulgram (sp?) ) but I never found out if they discovered a solution. I think the issue lies in using the Escort BP injector harness plugged into the SOHC B6 main harness. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Thanks.

Looks like I answered my own question...
The single wire (black/brown wire in a plastic sheath) that goes to the small brass temp sensor next to the exhaust manifold is not the correct wire for some reason (although it was on the B6). I took this wire off and replaced it with the other shorter single wire (black/orange wire that went to the ground on the thermostat housing) and now the temp guage works. However, I don't think the fan turns on so there's still something else that needs to be fixed. I have it hotwired with a switch for now.

Suppose I'll post my 2 cents:
wiring for 94 mx-3 to BP harness:
Look at my worklog for more info and junk.
(the red link)
As for the speedo sensor, im fabricating something to use the 94 electric sensor in a
G series tranny which uses a shorter cable driven one. Its 5/8" inch too long for the
electric so it needs to be shortened, this is possible because the shaft is plastic.

ok, i know i have seen it adressed in a few other threads but i cant find it. atx to mtx swap. THE TPS DEAL. i just swaped a dohc b6 from a 95 obd1 into my 93 sohc b6. i used my old mtx but the motor i got had an atx atatched and i had to use the 95 dohc wire harness and parts. the onlything having an issue of course is the tps. i have an ecu from a 94 mtx dohc b6. everything runs except the tps. i did a ton of reading and i have a mtx tps also on hand. the prob is 1. the throtle bodies are different and my mtx tps wont bolt onto the atx throtle body and 2. from what i have figured out the wireing to the ecu is lacking a wire. my book sais its 2L but i dont know how the pin outs are aranged.

Ok so I have a 92 Sohc and most likely get a bp from an escort gt, now will it just sttraight up bolt up and I have to change harness and ecu right? Oh and I got a transmission from a protege when I blew mine.

correct, bolts right in and you use the engine harness and ECU from escort

ok, so I'm finally gonna begine my swap. Getting bp engine tomorrow and have a simple question if I get the ecu would it connect with my 92 sohc harness and run the 2 pins extra? Or would it not connect? And have to get the connection? And one more question can I use my clutch from my sohc or no? On the bp?
