nowhere to put my tired left arm?
think about it
comfort and ergonomics are crucial when it comes to performance, and i bet everyone here has an mx3 for daily driving, not ONLY track (and most likely not even track) ...
come on guys. u get roll cages and flat door panels for 450hp and up vehicles for god sakes ... the precidia just barely scrapes past 200 ..... .......
completely unecessary.. if u make door panels: keep the armrest ... besides, an armrest in carbon fiber would reflect the mx3's alien-like exterior ...
LOL. I started this post and my car DOES have a roll cage and close to 400whp...But I still want a molded door panel...not a flat one.

well i'll be pushing around 300 whp at all 4 wheels so i'm going to do everything i can to make the frame more rigid including a cage and stuff to lighten it and i happen to like a more stark look rather than fancy.... and some people here do have mx-3's that aren't daily drivers only track and show cars

Cover a stock door panel in spray adhesive.
put a layer of 10mill Vapor barrier on it smoothing out anything you don't want in there...
Let it set overnight...
Spray the plastic with adhesive and roll on tin foil shiny side out...NO tears or major wrinkle's allowed.
Let it set overnight...
paint it with activated resin, pre-paint your CF Material with Resin, lay it on the door, paint it again...
Let it dry for like 2 days... and pull it off...
You might lightly sand it then apply another thin coat of resin to it..As most resin's are chemically activated and heat themselves cooling the resin and hardener and then spraying it onto the piece's may provide a better finish...
I'll do it with the trampoline i have, sometime this summer...along with a Kevlar Center Console.

ewww no flat piece would so not look that nice in our car, flat pieces are only for like hot rods old cars and mini trucks/lowriders.
or for cars that are interested more in perfomance than bling bling
If your talking performance why even replace the pannels at all? just remove them, seems to me thats still lighter than removing the pannel and replacing it with a sheet of CF

adding the cf is bring in the "bling" to the conversation. your wanting performance with the looks.

what's the deal with the plastic sheet between the door and the stock panel anyway? it's stuck on the metal with a circle of black silicone. i thought at first that a previous owner did something to the doors, but i didn't know much about cars back then and probably the car came stock like that from factory. it just seemed really cheap looking to me, the black silicone. nowadays, something in my door is loose i think, because whenever i shut my driver door, i can hear a 'secondary' bang from within the door... is my door-lock-hook assembly loose?

Yup. Factory applies the plastic sheet that way - all cars and all manufacturers at least, all I've ever owned. I believe it is to keep H20 that enters the door cavity from ruining the interior door panel from the backside. You'll probably hafta take off your interior panel and close the door a few times from the inside to fig out what the secondary noise is...
