Thast why people get mad, nobody ever reads the posts.
YOU are the only person getting mad that I can see, and apparently you yourself cant read either.
You:
$3600 USD for a GS mx-3 is way too much, you can find them all over the place for $1500-$2000 USD.
You:
I never siad you could get a 1995 GS with 50,000 miles for $2,000.
Here is what I said:
And where he is going to buy a 94-96 RS with 50k miles for less than $2000, I will leave for you to explain.
No, apparently YOU cant read either. Do you see the RS in there? Open your eyes... there it is...see it? Seeeeee it? Therrrrrre you go.......
here are 2 links mx-3's that are cheaper
Well, lets see.. the first link is to 3 cars, one of which is an automatic, which you advised him against.. one is for a 4 cyl with 174,000 miles, which is about 100,000 more than you recommended in your earlier post, and the 3rd is for a GS with 11,000 more miles than the one he drove, and you want him to buy it on line where he cant even inspect it or drive it first. And WE'RE stupid.
Now lets take a look at the second link.. The first car is a GS with 166,000, automatic, that doesnt run. The second car is one that has bad alignment, is missing one wheel, and yet somehow is a "daily driver" . I will leave for you to explain that little paradox to us. The 3rd car has 130,000 miles and is an automatic, which YOU, like others, advised against. Did YOU read any of this? Or are you "too stupid?"
and to finish, I was refering to the stupid guys that think certian members spend too much on repairs, and insist on pointing out they can get a 7 dollar thermostat.
Yes, how dare "stupid" people, like one of the MODERATORS, to point out, with evidence mind you, that one doesnt need to spend excess amounts of money to get their car fixed. Barry, turn in your credentials. Knowing how to work on cars without spending excessive amounts of money is upsetting one of the members, shame on you, you must be stupid, go away.

Just for starters, don't take the reply of the guys that only have the GS or Only have the Base/RS models. Of coures their gonna say the one they have is the best, no one wants to be the one that has the "bad" car.
My GS: I bought it basicly without the engine so I've a new block & heads, onthe other hand all the other parts have 150,000 miles on it and I've not had a problem with it, it runs better than when I bought my first MX off the lot.
My 4cylr: I've put more $$ into it in the last 2 years than my GS with new engine, body kit, and paint job. but on a lighter note it has 200,000+ miles on the original engine block and original tranny.
The fun factor definetly goes to the GS
The GS look is also sportier without payingout.
I prefer the GS model, I'll be putting a BPT in my I4 soon and the fun factor may change....
But even my girl thinks the GS is a better model, in preformance and looks.

yup you guys are stupid.
you dont read or understand posts, you infer and assume , and that makes you stupid.
Im right and you are wrong. I always stand by my post and Im 99.999999999% always right. almost no one knows more than me.
after people told a memmber in this topic that he paid too much for jis repairs " which he didnt" I set the record straight and posted why he didnt spend too much. that should have been the end.
but a few posts later some one skipped over some posts and chime in that he spent too much and they could get a thermosta for next to nothing.
My post was very explanitory and there was no reasont to add that a thermostat could be found for 7 dollars.
IF YOU READ ALL THE POSTS you will see that I am right.
also 2 statements "auto trannies are crap" true
"you can find a GS MX-3 for less than $2000 USD" true
I never said you could find a GOOD car for that price or a 5 speed for that price. just that you can find a GS for that price. Thats it thats all thats everything. if the car has an auto, yah its crap but you can still find them.
those are my statements and they are true,
any thing you said is you words not mine and I dont have to explain your logic or where to find what car for what price with what trannie and what ever millage.
as for the RS/GS thing YOU GOT ME ON A TYPE-O

GOOD ONE i STILL PROVED YOU WRONG AND THAT YOUR STUPUID. YOU USED YOUR STUPIDITY TO TRY AND POINT OUT THAT i TYPED "GS" INSTED OF "RS OOOOOOOOOOO GOOD ONE YOU GOT ME GOOD
DUMBASSS
Im a bastard and I can say anything I want about anyone because Im never wrong stupid, why else do you think I havent been banned ?? jackoff?? look at my member number 2707.
Im right in this matter as well and I really dont feel like trying to explain you stupidity to you since you are too stupid to understand.

I bought my 93 1.6 sohc about a year and a half ago for 1600 usd. Had 160,000 miles on it. I replaced the timing belt, cv axles, vavle cover gasket, and muffler. I did all this for about 600 bucks. I have not had a problem since. I love my mx-3, it is a great car. Hope this helps

by the way.... which one is better for performance? V4 or V6? I'm talking about getting more Bang For The Buck? So far I only hear about big horsepower coming for the 4 banger, compared to the numbers I see from the 6 shooter. Someone please clarify?
P.S. AMERICANS RULE!!

Its all irrelivent, if you put a bpt in an I4 you'd get the same hp out of a KLZE on a v6. You can argue that you could put a bigger turbo on a bpt, but then again you turbo a K8 and get the same HP. so end the end it makes no differance, but their is more after market performace parts for the I4 than the V6. But stock the V6 has more power. But as the saying goes... Theirs no replacement for displacement.

wow this is crazy.. all u fools gettin off subject!!
1st of all the average price for any GS in California is $3-4000(usd).. i got mine for $2000, but it was hella lucky! sure the I4 RS model may seem more reliable, but its all about performance, and the V6 will give it to ya! for a person with barely any money but wants power, the GS is the way to go! swapping motors comes later.. he he he

I have had GS and RS, and the rs which was automatic was slow as it gets, (0-60 in 17 sec)plus the head gasket blew at around 81k, water pump was changed, calipers changed, cv boot changed etc.
My recomendation stick with the 6.

My parents have a Mazda 626 2.2L 4Cyl N/A Auto with with 110hp. I learned to drive on it and drove it for about 4 years. Than i bought my first car, my 5spd Mx-3 almost 2 years ago. I still remember that feeling first driving it, it just wow'd me, it felt way more powerful, even tho it "only" has 130hp.
Its a tough call, i know i would never go back to a 4cyl after driving a v6 like i would never go back to the K8 after getting the ZE swap. I wasnt worried about reliability, my resoning, its a Mazda and it'll always be better than a same priced domestic, my parents 626 has had very minimal repairs, i though my mx-3 would be the same in reliabilty, and it has, almost. I'm pretty agressive on her and it shows, but i enjoy it and upgrade parts as they need to be replaced, except for the ZE, but still minimal repairs and i'm very impressed, especially for a 12yr old car. Now its more of a project car than just transportation. I always wanted to get into cars but never had the chance and didnt know all that much, but with my Mx-3, i've learned hellavalot and always really look forward to the next upgrade.
But as i read info on this site, this is my opinion:
-Barely Minimal Money for Repair but dont care about performance: RS
-barely Minmal money for repairs but want performance: Don't believe exists, but try a Turbo Probe/626/Mx6
-Can afford regular wear and tear repairs and wants good performance: GS
-Some money for upgrades for performance: GS
-A Good amout of money for kickass performance: GS
-Alot of money for Sick performance: RS
