Ok been talking to CDF today, I'm going to send off the pulleys on Monday. I have available now 1 KL and 1 K8 this will be enough for them to make an informed decision about which to use as a template - reversable or one sided.
The lip/flange for keeping the belt straight may affect pricing. I'm doing my best to keep CDFs pricing under the original $200 estimate, I will let you know as soon as I do! Fortunately for you the pound contines to plummet, so this may even make up for the extra of the lip

For you Mark, no it's not too late. For anyone else, no it's not too late

The OEM k8 and singular KL pulley have been sent to CDF racing for evaluation. I also included labelled photographs of their position, noting the unique way our front head pulley is on exhaust and our rear is on the intake cam. And finally included a DVD with the workshop manual PDF and some extra photographs of our K series parts and layout, and timing mark references. It was sent first class with tracking so progress should be fast.
I have also have a pair of KL one sided pulleys on their way from mazdamx3freak, just incase the reversible k8 style adjustable pulley design isn't feasible- such dedication eh?
I'm going to do up a spreadsheet tonight of projected cost as accurately as possible. Pricing has increased slightly due to CDF becoming VAT registered and the additional manufacturing complications of adding the 'lip' for retaining the timing belt. I hope it wont affect anyone to the extent of dropping out, but if it does I'll just buy out the position (and have alot of spares ) so we get the run of 10 price
Jeff has kindly replied (very busy but nice guy ) and added the democratic vote for the GB so be sure to vote and lets make this happen! viewtopic.php?f=39&t=68588&p=496035#p496035

Great stuff Chris, I'll add you to the provisional/conditional/interested list.

Yep it sure is, things are pretty far on now but I can still fit you in Thanks for your interest, and I can let you all know that deposits will be no more than $30 USD and the only reason I will ask for deposit will be to represent commitment to your custom colour annodising. I will be buffering the rest of the cost so you can all feel safe this GB is not a scam. I will add colour options to the thread when I find out from CDF how many different combos we are allowed for this fantastic price.

Lead time will be 3-4 weeks upon the word go However I am awaiting delivery of the other KL one sided pulley to send to CDF. After some discussion we decided to use the one side pulleys instead of the reversibles. This will keep things simple and keep weight down.
I have the cash ready for the deposit required by CDF so essentially just waiting for this pulley and to be granted permission for the actual Group Buy.

I am tentatively interested with one contingence;
Here is some pre-background:
I have alot of different parts in my Frankestein engine, and am putting in MegaSquirt. I want it to work at peak efficiency, and will be dyno tuning. I wonder if being able to adjust them would allow me to tweak out a few more HP, TQ, and/ or MPG.
If so, and they're around $200 U.S. shipped, I'm in with my bottom dollar!
Price will be approximately $210 + shipping, sorry Jesse! I've battered these guys down alot, to put it in perspective Leo323 paid $350 dollars just to have his OEMs modified to be adjustable These are going to be $210 approx plus shipping for a brand new, lightweight, annodised, adjustable cam pulley!
As for you gains, there's potential for easing a little out, but the main issue is that our intake and exh cams are linked internally as you know. So you would be adjusting both, doesn't mean yes, doesn't mean no though. That's been the annoying thing, because they've never been made the gains are unknown. As I've said my reasons are due to head shaving, so there's no doubt it will help me out. These pulleys will be considerably lighter too, which could help free out power, but again no proof or figures yet. I'd love to tell you yes these will help your application, but I can't say for sure, and I'm not one to lie or guess. Sorry that probably hasn't helped you

Well, I appreciate your honesty.
If I can swing it, I may get them simply because I have decided that another reason for my build is to have it featured in at least 1 magazine, showing all the parts made by MX-3 enthusiasts. It will be an underdog story of passion, hearteache, and overcoming obstacles.. a community coming together to make this neglected car stand out, up against the cold world of easy aftermarket bolt-ons for common cars. You'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll be touched, and want to go kick a Honda. At the end, I'll photoshop a picture of all of us, jumping mid-air with one fist up, and expressions of truimph.
Whoa.. sorry.
I digress.
I have just paid deposit for 10 sets of pulleys! You will note that this is not like previous group buys, I am fronting all the cash for this, this way you will see a complete product before you buy.
If /when Jeff approves GB I will be asking a very minimal $30 deposit for a set of pulleys. This is purely so that you can choose your own colour annodising, otherwise people may say "I want gold" then not end up buying them and it means I have to sell on gold pulleys.
Hopefully Jeff will approve this GB soon so I can find out if I need to pay extra for more than 10 sets or not. I'm confident I can shift 10 easily enough going by the interest and the fact these are going to be like hens teeth.
While we are waiting please think about your colour annodising. The outer toothed part will be hardened therefore will be a dark grey/black colour. The insert will be a colour of your choice:
BLUE
RED
SILVER
PURPLE
GOLD
BLACK

Sooo just thinking about this - I didn't realize they would be lighter... Is it possible that this could effect performance in a negative way? (the same reason I will never use an aftermarket UDP?)
