so i've decided to stick it out with the mx and finish what i've started.

i had the day off and couldnt pick up my new goodies from work but tomorrow morning i'll be welding on my new magnaflow muffler.
Image

i also picked up a raptor audio 1/0 gauge wiring kit so that i can finally wire in my 4channel and my audio will be done other then upgrading the current components to better components front and rears.

i'll be picking up the wytbushing kit in the next 2 weeks. i'm looking to pick up a better set of rear trailing arms as mine are pretty rusty, i myself have never replaced suspension bushings before but hopefully it all goes smooth.

i've also sourced a steering rack for my manual conversion, so once i get out to pick it up i'll rebuild and depower the rack and it'll be ready and waiting for the motor swap to find its new home.

as sad as it is to say i'll also be respraying and preping my stock 15's for a either a lime green or giants blue for WINTER MODE :(
winters coming fast and hopefully i can get as many things tied up as possible before it hits.
but regardless next summer a new and hopefully powerful mx will emerge.
i have made the decision that once the motor is reassembled i wont be going further then megasquirt at the most. once everything on the current list is completed i wont be doing anything except maintaining what is there.

so i put my first corksport order in today, ss brake lines and clutch line and some stickers(yay hp).

still waiting for my muffler and amp kit to arrive. and i'll be picking up my wyt bushings either next week or the week after, i've also got $350 put away towards my megasquirt purchase.

gonna talk to my boss tomorrow about having my engine and trans installed at work. i'm gonna have the guys in my shop help me make a judgement call on my diff either tomorrow or tuesday. hopefully its still salvageable and if its good i'm hoping i can get one of the guys to re and re the diff and inspect and clearance the gearset.
it works out that i work at a dealership because i felt a bit gutless when it came to tearing the trans apart, i'll be in helping with the assembly but dont feel comfortable on my own.

got the muffler on finally. its amazing!!!!

noticed that the interior baffling is slightly different then i've seen. it has a lil step down in the baffling right before it hits the muffler tip. nice and quiet but stomp on it and its deep and aggressive without hearing loss. its still 2.25inch by the way.

i've also noticed a different in the way way the power hits, no more powerful and if anything might have lost a bit of top end, but it is so butter smooth.
i feel and hear the VRIS much more then i did with the out fartcan.

it rained today so i wasnt in the mood to run all the new wiring, never had a amp for the mid/highs before, excited to have some better audio quality. wanna upgrade the speaker to even better components but i'll get to it eventually.

so i wanna start off by saying these plugs are the devil!

i started running the wires for the new setup.

pulled my door panels off and to my surprise the speakers has began to separate from the frames!??!?@!@.

so i got lucky and found a decent set of components to replace the old ones, pioneer TSA1604C's
Image
got good reviews for a cheap component set. more powerful then my old jvc components.
hopefully i get at least the winter out of them. i'd like to go to something higher end with crossover and get real fancy.
i'm also contemplating dynamatting the door panels tomorrow and in the spring possibly go all out and dynamat the floors and trunk. shits expensive tho.

so i've gotta fab up a couple spacers for the door speaker, mounting depth is deeper then the last set and the window hits the back of the magnet.

i finished off my stereo upgrade today, seemed to help regulate the voltage as well.

it got to dark to take pics but i'll snap some in the a.m.
i've never had powered speakers before and although i havent even begun finetuning it the sound is incredible, even the rear 6.5's(40watts) from princess auto sound great. i have a set of soundstream 4x6's(125watts) that i may replace the rears with.

i havent even begun tuning anything yet. but i may pop by my audio shop tomorrow and pick up enuff dynamat to do the trunk, the guy there gave me 4 square feet of it today for 20bucks so if he honors that tomorrow i'm gonna pick up 12-16sq/ft and cover as much of the trunk/doors/hatch as i can.

when i get a few solid hours i will upgrade the the alternator ground and power wires to 4 gauge and thatll be the end of my electrical upgrades for hopefully a long time.

i'm gonna try and pick up a piece of cold air piping tomorrow and reroute my intake into the fender well, retime the car and hope that helps my slowly decreasing mileage. i've also noticed my valvetrain is getting ever louder and what i also think is the friction gears getting stupid loud until it gets up till about 140-150degrees before it starts to become a lil more acceptable.

so i got restless today and ordered a twm shift boot and 2 sets of base bushings to replace the orginal bushings at the transmission side to complete the full link upgrade, i have to modify exhaust slightly as its rubbing on the shifter and causing a vibration.

i need to get this motor done so i can get the manual rack swapped in and get the dead rear mount replaced with the window welded brand new mount i've had waiting for over a year lol.
i'm more excited about the rebuilt manual rack then i am the motor.

the stereo is awesome, but i've got a bad ground loop i've got to track down i'm getting alternator whine pretty bad.

so i got my intake reworked and in the fender now, still gotta do a proper timing adjustment but i like the sound change :)

went for a cruise friday night, FELT REALLY POWERFUL but then the check engine hit for about 1 second intervals. i'm thinking its the intake piping, maybe a leak somewhere every once and awhile it falls flat on its face around 3500rpm while the engine lights on but the the light disappears as fast as it came and everythings fine again.
need to find a nice lil aluminum over flow tank so i can remove the factory tank and relocate over to the passenger side.

Going to mount my new winters on the 15' gs wheels this week at some point and plastidip them blaze blue or or lime green for winter mode.
I'm really tired of going cheque to cheque paying one thing here and there, plus i have to have a decent emergency fund for when i move out in april. i'm looking to put away 2500 for the hard parts fund so i can do everything i have left one shot(engine and trans swap, manual rack install.)

I'd like to rent a small house outside the city that hopefully has a garage or a landlord that will let me put up a 24x14 temporary garage lol, then i have somewhere to complete all the swaps and respray the car all by mid May and for the first time in almost 10 years straight do nothing but enjoy a summer that isnt all about wrenching lol, lofty goals but hopefully it works out.

I think its better tuning your car check to check IMO. You take your time and buy the right part the first time and putting it on feels like Xmas when you were like 7 years old. The big things like engine swaps and what not yeah takes a long time but if you rush to do everything you wont enjoy the MX3 as long as you could of. Alot of members do everything so fast and are tired of the MX3 in a heart beat. The ones that put time. blood and sweat into the car hang around a little longer. I got the mishimoto coolant over flow and put it where my cruise control used to be before i ripped it out. It comes with tubing mount plate and everything you nee for a good install. It leans a little because its kinda tall but that just means the chrome is blinging that much better on the side lol

so i finally recieved my order from twm 3 weeks late lol, and they still screwed the order up. ordered 2 more sets of shifter bushings to do the trans side of the linkage and they forgot to send those. have to rework my exhaust pipe too cuz it smacks on the bottom of the shifter causing a nasty vibration.
Ordered a shift boot for a bj protege hoping it would fit, lil bit of a squeeze to get it on but it fits and looks great. only problem know is i'm definetly gonna have to spend the dough and get a matching shift knob to make it perfect.
Image

also got all my bulbs except the license plates changed over to led, still havent modified the flasher unit so the turn signals flash fast, i'm gonna have to get a higher led count for the brake light bulbs cuz they are a lot dimmer then the turn signal and reverse lights.
Image
Image

got a crappy pic of my intake reroute, will take some better ones tomorrow while i'm retiming the ignition.
gonna have to do an idle adjustment as well but will reset the tps another day.
Image

so i'm hopefully going to be replacing the front control arm bushings before winter hits and i went out today and took a look and my car was built 12/93 so i'm hoping i have the small shell control arms and i'll spend a day installing the new bushings and throw a couple coats of black paint to freshen things up. havent decided whether i'm gonna put oem ball joint or upgrade to rx7's.
