It scares me that you drive your car like this. Check out all of your suspension, LBJ's. tie rods, wheel bearings. If you can't be bothered to do it (I gave you an awesome writeup in this thread), take it to a shop before you kill yourself going 70 in a sketchy a-- car. Why would you drive with a broken trailing arm?

i had no clue thats what it was. the noise had all of my attention so i figured the wobble was part of it. didnt even think to check the rear, i just got lucky when i went to get a tire put on that the guy showed me it was broken :/

I have a whirring noise coming from the front (at least i think it does)
it happens once the car has driven a few miles and i think only when going really slow
touching the brakes changes the sound
could be wheel bearing but not sure yet.
lugs are tight as I have had to check them a bit since the wheel fell off, this may have cause damage but i didnt see any.
lower ball joints have both been replaced.
axles are not very old.
driver axle seems to have some in and out play from the transmission - is this normal?
car does not pull
steering is pretty steady
thanks

Whirring is usually a wheel bearing. If you asked someone to describe the noise that a wheel bearing makes, they would say "a whirring sound"...
seriously

And braking would put a load on the bearing that could make the noise go away.
I'd vote wheel bearing too.

so how long can i safely drive with a bad wheel bearing?
How do i know when it is really bad and unsafe?
I just need to know if I can make it until summer when I can drive my wife's car while i perform repairs to the mx3
thanks

Wheel bearings are strange creatures. I generally diagnose the severity based on volume
If you can turn your radio up over it, its still good to go.
Once conversation in the car is uncomfortable, time to replace them.
Its unlikely they'll fall apart and your wheel will fall off, but if you get any strange vibrations... do it now.

no vibration at slow speeds
no wobble
some vibrations at 40+ mph but coule be the road, or balance or any number of things considering the car is almost 17 yrd old
i can barely hear it with the windows up
but with them down it is a loud howl/whirring
thanks

Found what might be causing a lot of my noises: the jackshaft bearing.
Now i need to find a bearing (if possible) or the whole jackshaft.
tricky because I have a BPT

ok so my cv joint is shot, the inner boot is shredded. Does a cv joint affect stearing? would it cause the car to randomly pull to the side? If so then i think ive found my problem.
