well i have a 93 mx3 with straight klze and everybody was telling me that the best ecu for a klze is the kl31 one but i been doing lots of searching and the kl31 ecu with je50 runs very rich so how can i have good whp running so rich?my other setup i mind was running a mx6 ecu with mx6 vaf.WHAT TO DO WHAT TO DO lol's

well i sell eproms on the side so PM me and ill give you the lowdown.
ive given up on wasting time trying to find out why the KL31 runs rich, without a original ZE MX6 in my garage ill never be able to work it out.

Exactly. That's truely you're only real option. Mazda ECU's have pre-progammed maps and adjust to certain values. As it has been done, you can rechip them, but that's a lenthy trial-and-error process, and it's not a universal fix since every motor and every setup is different. What one setup may run rich on one car may run lean on another, especially as our cars age and the metering and mechanical components get old, worn and vary from spec. We see this now even in fuel economy issues, with those struggling to get low-20's, while others get each 30's on what would be basically similar if not identical and tried-and-true setups. Megasquirt will allow each car to be tuned optimally and individually. If you want to tune it to run dangerously lean, than you definitely can.

Hi
I've same mixture rich problem with je50 vaf and kl31/kl36 ecu, I think problem could be
vaf, i found signal of 1.8 volt at idle, service manual for k8 1.8 liters is 2.5volts.
I don't found any reference info for 2.5 liters.
My next step is run car on bench and mapping ecu at reasonable mixture, instead of that
change vaf

x2 or check the wiring....
Mine 2 days ago (which at idle i thesame as n/a)
It was runnign rich even at cruising speed...
it was a wire at the vaf that was corroding, well on the harness.
I dont remember my kl36 tho maing my car run rich.. why do you guys say its rich? its smoking?
on my wideband when i was n/a it would read normal.. sometimes a bit on the lean side.. only when cruising.

I have a 96 OBD2 KLZE and I use the KL02 VAF and my engine runs perfect. Smooth idle, acceleration and starting. No harsh fuel smell from the exhaust or anything. I guess I'm just lucky. I do use brand new OEM Denso O2 sensors. New sensors respond much quicker than old ones. Try installing new sensors.

Unfortunately it is rich at idle criusing or flat, range is 12.8 to 10.0, I've installed two newo2 sensor, engine harness and detonation sensor, I can solve this issue only supply at idle a signal close to 2.5 volt for vaf, infact range of vaf is high signal no running and low signal to flat.
I'm looking for a comparative(ie swapping vaf) or remap fuel map for right mixture

its never been anything to do with wiring unless a KL31 ECU'ed car is wired differently then a ford probe/mazda MX6. i came to the conclusion that it was probably the knock sensor pulling timing + adding fuel to compensate, one way you could try to test it is to bypass the knock sensor and run 98 gas and see what happens (after resetting the ECU of course).
ive since gone to MS but can still do custom KLDE/ZE tunes if anyone is interested.

You know, I saw a ZE import on carsales, definitely looked genuine. The guy wanted heaps for it....
but he had heaps of mods like you, headers, solid mounts, 2.5inch exhaust, HAI, fidanza flywheel etc. 170,000kms, he made only 114KW at the wheels. If the links still works:
http://www.carsales.com.au/all-cars/pri ... 7AB006F9F0" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
So basically, that's a genuine import ZE right there with less power than what you made on your best shot. I think it's just the way these cars are :p

i wouldnt doubt that for one minute except for the fact in the US they always get 10%+ more power in every circumstance. in fact my fully bolted ZE makes less then 95% of the stock ZE's in the US. ive seen potential in my ZE, once every 6 onths for about a day it would haul a--, i could never replicate it no matter what i tried. all i have been left to assume is the knock sensor is noisy or causing the ECU to pull timing and therefore run richer. i cant prove this theory but if i ever got my hands on a genuine ZE or even loom it would help to no end to work out the difference.

Lol, I might be tempted to buy that ZE (for way less than the guy is asking) so we can find out once and for all
