Shifter bushings..

Hey Jesse,

I looked up the sketch I got from Kirk95gs of the CorkSport shifter bushing and the only difference from the sketch you posted is the OD of the lip. I don't think that the bushings at both ends of the control rod are the same ID and OD...are they? Do you also have a shifter bushing you can measure?

I just wanna double check because I'm going to cut them tonight.

The guy I got them from said that they are the same on both ends, on the Probe, which is what he made them for. He sold me a set of 4, all the same to test fit on my car, to see if they fit it, too. They definitely fit the Tranny end, so I suppose they are the same on both ends on our cars, too.
He said it costs him $34 to make this set of 4.

interesting. I wouldn't have thought that they were the same on both ends. I have an MX-6 tranny in my trunk right now. I'm going to go have a look at that tonight and see if it has the same dimensions as the bushing you measured.

I'm sure that that is the overall length, including the lip, but I have misplaced them

so I can't re-measure.

So I made a set of the shifter bushings out of Nylatron last night. Machining plastic is harder than I thought. It's really hard to get a good finish because if you turn up the speed it gets hot and melts. I managed to get some made but they are not good enough to sell. I will check the fit and see how they feel and then I will practice and try to produce some that are worthy of sale to the forum.

extremely interested and it doesn't matter what kind of short shifter i have does it?

I know that the stock bushings fit in my B&M shifter. I think I heard somewhere that a guy was having trouble with bushings for a pacesetter shifter. If you can get me the measurements of the shifter I can make you something to fit. It might not be right away, but I will try to accommodate.

I got a cheap ebay shifter (rounded end type, not the cylinder) and the brozeoil bushings - they were a tight fit, but they worked.

Can't you get some sort of "punch" or circular blade to get the nylatron to the size you want? It would only work for one part of the cutting, but it would be considerably faster than machining each one. You would just need to drill a hole in the center of each piece, cut a line to the depth needed, then have some sort of hole saw.

Maybe try here?

I'm pretty sure they are the same on both ends... I've got a couple extra bronzoil bushings if you need a measurement or pics... now if only I had something accurate to measure it with

What is everyone talking about "Same on both ends". The bronzeoil and stock bushings I have are all equal size parts w/ a flange on one end of the bushing...

The ends of the shifter linkage... one end is where the shifter connects and the other end is where the "third link" is. I knocked out the old bolt and replaced with a new one + bronzoil bushings.

Oh, I havn't done the 3rd link yet, I have the stuff here to do it, but when I crawled under there ALL of my bolts wouldn't budge...I got the nuts of fine, but the bolts wouldn't come out lol. So I put it all back together and said screw it for now.
