oh btw<BR>i talked to one of the guys at the mazda dealership when i got a new set of wheel locks. he said that mazda is moving away from the 2 door sports coupe. examples: mp3 and mp5. he also said that the miata(mx-5) will be replaced soon(within a few yrs) by a four door coupe.<BR>thu,s the rx-8 is a 5-door car. the puma will probably be 2 door from ford, but no new 2 dr. sports coupes will be seen from Mazda int he future from what this guy said.

i remember, but i think the puma started this topic. the rx-8 is in production for 2003.

I just said that because everybody was talking about the RX-8 like they couldn't find anything on it.

I was under the impression that ford owns Mazda, and they are a joint venture, thats why ford's have mazda engines in them and why they interchange parts. The Ford Probe has a Mazda engine in it. Has anyone noticed that alot of parts for a Ford Escort will fit on the MX-3, thats because ford and Mazda are one. SO if you say Ford sucks, then you are essentialy saying that Mazda sucks too. I too do not like ford all that much because it is american and i don't believe american cars are made as well. Just my 2 cents.<p>[ October 29, 2001: Message edited by: Skiddy ]

Mazda owns Hundai now according to the dealer. Its called Mazda-Hundai @ the dealership. Ford I guess had a contract with Mazda to use their parts. But to clarify this, Mazda is NOT owned bt Ford in anyway.

Now when we say Ford sucks, we mean that Ford had to go into a partnership with Mazda becuase they cant make a good engine!!!! Ford never owned Mazda and if there was any ownership it would be the other way around. Fords suck cause any american engine is not built to the exact rate of error that Mazda is... You will see alot of Ford Owners argue with a parts store because they order a part for thier ford and it doesnt fit cause its like .5 off... Mazda and any import manufactor has only a .2... Now you might say .2 .5 big difference but think about it its 150% difference!!! Ford has used Mazda engines in alot of thier cars but I dont recall Mazda ever using Fords engines and theres a reason for that and why I stated earlier I would buy the puma IF it had a mazda engine in it and made at the Mazda Factory W the Mazda inspectors...

Ford Motor Company owns a controlling interest in Mazda. ~30% of the stock I think.

WEll I love my Mazda! and i hate Ford, but i thought that Ford bought Mazda in the past years. I Knew of a joint venture at one point. My bad. I can also say that Mazda engines are so much better than the american made, but just driving some american cars. I just wish Mazda would start making some more coupes instead of the 4 door cars even though i love pretty much all the cars they make now.

If you read stories from the Tokyo Auto Show and from other sources then you will find out 2 door coupes are thing of the past. All import manufactors are going to start making sports cars like the RX-8 with freestyle or similar doors. Ones that are 4 doors but look like they only have 2. This way its harder for your wives to argue that you need a car you can get your kids in easier.

no,no,no, though mazda and fords may have the same engins.they are diffierent. the mazda is still a japan tuned auto no matter what parts are in them. and fords have all american parts/unlike mazdas.not to discourage usa but japn makes cars a hell of alot better than sh*ty american cars.there for when we say ford sucks mazda doesnt
