I am suprise that you replied to a post that is this old...

Vaccum bagging is a process to bind carbon and resin with much less resin usage. Thus yielding a part that is much lighter and stronger at the same time. It is basically a plastic bag, then a sheet of fabric that absorbs the excess resin, then the mold. You use a fitting to attach your vaccum to and suck the air out of the bag which presses the absorbing fabric onto the part absorbing the resin. You let that set-up and then remove the bag. The bag and fabric are then trash and you have a really nice CF part. This type of CF is really only used for light pieces or pieces that are meant for stregnth. It can be done for pretty CF pieces too, but that is usually only done with higher end CF hoods and such.

yeah the carbon fiber look thing has been a little big lately but its been around for a long time and now that high end sports cars a sportin the stuff for looks, and performance reasons that means it will be round a whole lot longer so you might be wrong there "mymx.3"
