Naw, the military gear is all in a duffle bag, easy to yank. But I have 2 10" subs, which if put in a box, would be large and cumbersome. As for the thing you described, I hae exactly that, rukick made it for me, it's sweet as heck. I can get some pics if anyone is interested. However, I have 2 more 10" subs that I want to put in, and I want them to be installed in the sides.
No more MX-3.

I've got a 15" in my GS's tire well. No spare tire, but have AAA gold emergency plan, and an small air inflater. So I can pump my tire up. so I can get to a gas station, or whatever I need till it deflates.
My RS, I have a pair of 6X9's and 1 10" on a board, in place of the trunk cover. So it has the spare tire in there.

I also have a good roadside service plan and have been pondering how much of my trunk space to eat up with sound. Being a real sound junkie, it is a hard decision to make. I am pretty sure I am going to make a custom enclosure for each side between the strut tower and rear of the car and make a nice amp rack against the seat. I can get in just under one cubic foot of airspace per sub this way, mount the amps in a professional and aesthetically pleasing manner, and still be able to get to my spare or store stuff in there if need be.
