Grants wrote:There are 3 switches in total:
- starter interlock switch which is in series with the starter motor and prevents the starter motor engaging unless the clutch is pressed

- clutch switch and neutral switch. These 2 are in parallel with each other and if the gar is in neutral OR the clutch is pressed it sends a ground polarity to the ECU. These will NOT prevent the starter motor from engaging.

This is from jschrauwen:
Clutch being depressed as an indication to the ecu that gear selection is eminent and therefore will generate a higher idle by about 200rpm to compliment. This works in concert with neutral switch.

Wow! THATS PERFECT! -- If the neutral switch shows a ground signal when in neutral or when the clutch is depressed than its a piece of cake to interface with my Viper 791xv remote starter! Please tell me that I read what you wrote correctly and that I didnt do any selective thinking/reading

Where would I be without you guys?
Answer: Running after my car because I autostarted it while it was in gear! :)

I was hoping that the neutral switch had a wire that put out a ground or 12v signal whenever the car is in neutral. If that is the case then I can easily interface it with my remote start so that it will only activate when recieving that 12v or ground signal indicating the car is not in gear
If the BROWN / YELLOW wire that runs to your clutch switch and neutral swith has ground polarity, the car is in neutral so you could pick up a signal there. They go to terminal 1R on the ECU.

Make sure you test it well first - you'll be relying on the tranny mounted switch so make sure it operates properly in ALL gears!

And make sure you stay in the habit of leaving your car in neutral anyway :D
