Re: KL-ZE 1/4mile times in MX-3
are you guys using 2.5 tranny or mx-3 tranny
I'm using 2.5 northamerican ecu are you guys using a jspec ecu
why is my mph higher yet my time is slower then yours?
[ July 28, 2002: Message edited by: Smokin mx-3 ]
[ July 28, 2002: Message edited by: Smokin mx-3 ]

That sounds kind of on the low side for an engine that's supposed to be putting out 197-200hp, especially with the Corksport ecu which is supposed to add 7whp as well.
So by me expecting between 165-170whp after I dyno, would you think I'm high-ballin'? I'm basing that on a 15-20% drivetrain loss factor.
Blue curve is a stock KLDE in a Probe GT MTX [135whp @ 5600RPM, 134 ft lbs @ 4800RPM].
The Red curve is a KLDE with headers, intake, and exhaust [151whp @ 5600RPM, 152 ft lbs @ 4900RPM].
The Green curve is a KLZE running an ECU from a KLDE; very different VRIS poitns as shown by the dips in the curves @ the KLDE VRIS poitns [172whp @ 5900RPM, 160 ft lbs @ 5000RPM].

I used to know alot about MX-3's, but not so much anymore. Oh well.

Re: KL-ZE 1/4mile times in MX-3
Ah ok, that's more of what I expected. I'm wondering what kind of numbers I'll be putting out with the 2.5" exhaust and reprogrammed ecu? I'm expecting to see a bit more hp at a higher rpm (ecu), but probably slightly less torque because of the exhaust.
Thanks Dave

Re: KL-ZE 1/4mile times in MX-3
I'm running stock tranny, 1.8intake manifold, and stock rims/tires(with like 30% thread. stock muffler.
ran 14.675@92.49
My goal for next time 14.5...going to the track tomorrow
George
92 GS-R 2.5 KL-ZE
Re: KL-ZE 1/4mile times in MX-3
I think most of the time a Kl-ZE will run around low 14's. alot deppends on the driver alot.....
2.5 KL-ZE, BBS rims, I the front i have to falkin Azenis, Intrax Springs, CM Stage 1 clutch, and Fidanza flywheel, Pacesetter short shifter, Tociko Blue Struts, Sparco Steering Wheel, Yellow Top Battery
Alpine Type R Subs 10's, Alpine 2 Channel Amp, Alpine 4 channel
Amp, Alpine Alarm,Alpine Headunit
14.8 @ 94.2(with vaccume lick)

Re: KL-ZE 1/4mile times in MX-3
Traction is the name of the game with this setup.
I ran my buddy'd ITR and on my first and only run I got a 14.7.......moral of the story...those cars are easy to drive compared to our KL-ZE equiped MX-3's because of the much less torque they put out, which isn't that much of a bad thing.

What are the stock 1.8 tranny gear ratios? Where are you getting the 4.11's from?

Re: KL-ZE 1/4mile times in MX-3
Dave is talking about the final drive ratio, which is the gear ratio of the differential. The mx3 and mx6 have the same gear ratios for all 5 gears. The only difference is the final drive ratio, the mx3 having the 4.388 and the mx6 with 4.111. The 4.111 gives better gas mileage and blunts the acceleration a bit, which can help traction.
