I asked Ian about that and he said I could use a small breather filter to put over the end of the hose, so that's what I did. I believe he said it was just to recycle EGR gases for emissions.

Yes, it 's just to pipe clean air into the EGR Vacuum Vent Solenoid Valve. If you don't bother with a breather, you could get the solenoid valve clogged up in time.

I got my pipe from the US today. It was a 2.5" pipe. Will that have any affect? Is 3" better?
Got mine from an Integra 90-93.

EDIT: Correction: pipe was 2.75" outer diameter.

Well, as I see it, the only thing is that you'll need different couplers. :)

you'll be ok with 2.5...the opening of the vaf is 2.5" anyways. it's the bottle neck of the whole system..what would be the purpose of going bigger

That front part of the intake has a clip for the hood support arm... I was going to take mine off too, but figured that I'd have to find some other way to keep the arm secured... I may remove the arm and put some type of gas struts on both sides to hold the hood up instead, but that'd take custom fabricated brackets, time, and ingenuity.

So does mine. No problem here.

EDIT: Does anyone know wher to find a 2.75 to 3.5" coupler or a 2.5 to 3.5" coupler?

I have a dead nissan maxima because of a cai that i made with the pipe facing down :) oh about the couplers... I payed like 3 dollars for mine on ebay..why are some people paying alot for them? all they are are just rubber or plastic o.0 On that second intake i see...how dod you fit the filter in the hole? did you have to do any cutting? how is the throttle response? I have a short intake and it ounds nice but well..it is getting hot air :p also about the hood support..yeah mine chills on top of the fan support also.

When I took off my stock air intake I drilled out the rivets where the hood rod support was attached to the air intake.

Here is a picture of what I did when I reinstalled back on the car.

Hood Rod support

It really works well.
