SORRY it took me sooo long to get back with you. Anyway, while it doesn't seem to be the most durable thing in the world, I have had it on numerous vehicles for 4+ years in various salt based winter locations and offroading. Even if it breaks, it is CHEAP and easy to replace.

However, it is only meant for retaining the outside shield onto the cat. SOO, it will not have any effect on internal cat rattlings.
