-leaky valve cover gaskets
-failed distributor TWICE
-seized idler pulley bearings (snapped the alt. belt, left me stranded)
-clogged catalytic converter (failed emissions)
-alternator failure (left me stranded)
-coolant leak
-ac coolant leak, so i have no ac
-broken spark plug wire

I still have to replace the fuel filter, clutch, and o2 sensors too. There might be more i'm forgetting, but thats all i can think of for now.
you're talking about all those things like they break themselves, umm 'car hit the tree', no it didnt, you drove it into the tree, lesson is to replace/maintaing your car and it will be most reliable car. And yes hondas do need maintenance too, they just dont go 100K miles without ever replacing anything.

I thought they would work if you just inverted two wires on one of the harnesses?
Actually its 3 wires - Guido was doing it the other way, because he bought an old design disty off EBay for his 97 car - see this thread , just reverse the exchange instructions.

Hondas have god awful distributors to. They are just as bad as ours, the coils and ignitors fail all the time. The only thing thats better is you can buy the parts seperate from the distributor.

Every car has its weak points.

I bought my MX-3 as a second car to my '03 Protege and I knew it was going to be needing repair work. I have done a lot. All cars do at some point. Just look at it this way, how many MX-3s do you see on the road now? I rarly see any. In fact the only 2 MX-3s my dad has took in on trade at the Mazda dealership since last May I bought. One GS and one RS. The MX-3 GS is by far my favorite Mazda model. If I could have bought a new one I would have instead of a Protege.
