Cold starting of V6 at -20 Celcious (Problems?)

LOL my car had a hard time starting when my optima red top was dying, first crank didnt work, sometimes on the second crank and always on teh 3rd. It was a time-style problem, if the second crank was too soon, it wouldnt start either. But what i figured out, if it didnt start the first time, i could count to 3, and it worked always on the second shot...but as i said, it eventually was found out to be my battery, only 3 months old. Now im running dual red tops in parallel, and i can tell you starting is no problem, even with a sinlge red top i can for a few says afterwards...shifting it a little stiff, but no problems starting anymore

After my red top died, i used my old 4 year old battery that i got with the car, man that had a hard time cranking, that that was replaced

Today was the first day I my car wouldn't start since i got it a couple months ago. It's been around -20 to -30 here and it always started first try, but it would not start at all today. Im guessing it probably has the original battery or something that I need to change. The previous owner had it in a heated garage most of it's life so they probably never had the need for a better battery.

i lived in Winnipeg for 25 years, and my mx lived there for 7 years. My Suggest is get 5w30 oil in your car, it lighter for colder starts in the winter time. Plus get a block heater. It help, I didnt have my car pluged in at -35 ( wind chil of -51) car didnt start. Pluged it in for 5 hours, started right away. It keep the block/fluid warm. Also check the spark plugs. That sometimes works too. Maybe the plugs are wore, spending a couple buck on plugs does wonders.

i dont know about your gas up there but here in maine if i dont use dry gas and the temp drops below 0 mine wont start heck for 1$ cant hurt to try it

Our gas is specialy formulated for 'winter climate'...at least at Esso and Petro Canada. On top of that, i always throw in a bottle of Motormaster anti-freeze **** in there. Comes in a little pack of 6 bottles. Supposed to treat up to 70L of gas...
