The intake manifold on the KF is VERY similar to a K8, slight difference in the curve, with a bit of swearing everything hooks up fine, however, hooking the rest of the engine up requires quite a bit more foul language, don't bother, more hassle than it's worth, TRUST ME!

Now with a KLZE swap, you gain 70bhp and 60ft/lbs of torque also. Definitely worth it, IMO.

I think its not so easy, getting KLZEs on this side of the Atlantic, there doesn't seem to be the thriving market for them you have in N America.<P>Might have to settle for a KLD out of a Xedos 8. Not sure about the manifold shape, but I think it curves forward?

i wonder if the kf-ze was a frankenstein motor like ls/vtec or something just not so ls and so vtec since mazda did use those vtec. i mean more something like 1.8 motor with ze cams and id think a new crankshaft since the bore on the kfze is uped to 78 from 75 in the 1.8 throw in .8 higher compression pistons and i believe that is probably what bumps the 1.8 to a 2.0 and the 130hp to 170 hp of course with some mazda tuning of course. i would think the 145 hp is just a different variation of the 170hp kfze. kinda like how we have the 164hp kl's and aus, jap, etc get the 190+hp versions. but then again this is just seems logical to me after you look at everything at once. who knows i could be totally wrong.<BR>kf-ze page <A HREF="

http://digilander.libero.it/mazdaxedos/ ... ta.htm.</A> Same stroke as K8, bit bigger bore, usual variation in CR between Japan and Europe.<p>[ December 10, 2002: Message edited by: IanL ]
