Interchangeable

Post by d_moore »

I found a 1.6L DOHC engine with low miles, and I need to find out if the tranny on my tired 1.6L SOHC will bolt up easy or if I'm gonna need the tranny as well. As usual Mazda Mechanics refuse accept that this is even possible. Give me a hand anybody.

In my 1992 manual it states that the tranny std tranny on a sohc is a F5M-R and on a DOHC its a G5m-R.If Its a auto, the transmission is a F4A-EL and fits both sohc and dohc.oh yea 92-93 are the same.

i think boosted did the swap and he said that the wiring is gonna be the biggest problem; rewiring wires to new harnesses and all kinds of other stuff.

yeah it will bolt up. while your at it get the dohc flywheel and clutch it is 14.75 lbs versus the 19 lb sohc package. the wiring is a different story.
