like a 1.8v6 with an 8000rpm redline. And it has to be f---in breathtaking. Then they should make the skyactive mazda 6 with a bigger v6 that has the same engine mounts, tranny (with longer ratios) so that we can have a whole new genereation of mx-3's !!!!!
I'd still keep my old one though
and no bulls--- LCD screens, sunroof, just your sports car basics. Except this time, there will be a 6 speed manual, functional headlights, and an oil pressure guage
BUT ANYWAY, do you guys think that the 2014 mazda 6 2.5 I4 fits in the mazda 3 2.0 I4 engine bay? Well, are the engine mounts the same? and is the manual transmission a bolt up as well. You all see where I am going with this

The EC/BG chassis is long dead, nothing will ever be made to be compatible with it, ever.
The FWD, 2-door, 4-passenger market is barely existant. Maybe in RWD form (BRZ/FRS comes to mind), but that's a market that has yet to be reborn. We'll see if Nissan comes out with a new 240 and what other manufacturers do, but Mazda has the Miata, and it'll be up to them if they want what would bascially be a 4-seater Miata coupe. (The Miata coupe did exist as a very limited run, and only in Japan)
Mazda announced they're not making a SkyActive V6 and the new Mazda6 isn't coming with a V6 at all. They have their twin-turbo diesel instead, and it's coming out this summer.
The Mazda3 does have regular 2.5, I doubt the SkyActiv 2.5 is much different size wise. The 2.5 in the 3 makes 165hp and the version in previous gen makes only 5hp more. The SkyActiv 2.5 in the new 6 is 189hp. Power wise, the Speed3 still blows it away. for fuel economy, i dont think you'll get better with the 2.5Sky over the 2.0Sky, but your gaining 24hp, which is a good jump. Better would be if the 3 get it's own Sky chassis; stronger and lighter, not sure if and when that's happening. Same series motor, trans would more likely bolt up. Could even be the same trans (maybe gearing/final drive change at the most). But those motors are just too new, doubt that people have done the R&D on that, or that those motors have been pulled out of those cars yet...
And don't you hate cars that come with non-functional headlights
The 3 and 6 basically offer most of that. The 3 having high-adjustable headlights, the and new 6's turn with corners (with auto low-beam). The only thing you don't have is 2-doors and a high redline. Even the new SI dropped it's redline from 8 to 7 doing to a 2.4L. People want more torque, and the lower redline helps the motor last longer. Even the old 2.0L in the Mazda3 makes 148hp and 134tq, which is much more than the old K8 did. The Fiat 500's little 1.4 makes 101hp and 98ft-lbs of torque, redline is 6700ish, and it pulled all the way to the top. It feels like it has more than 101hp (cause it's so damned small and light more likely) and what was with an auto, wonder if the manual would be even more fun. I know the standard 2.0L is torquey down low, but looses steam high up (this is where the 2.3/2.5 feel better)
I hat in a, FR-S and it really felt like I was in an Mx-3. No clue what you're looking for, but I'd recommend to look at that.

I can't afford an FR-S yet but I got a great deal on a 2004 G35 with a 6-speed manual . I'm having fun with my gas guzzling VQ35 at the moment but its just horrible as s--- on gas. I love it when I 2.4civic SI comes along and trys......to race............Oh honda.....
I'm not delusional, I already know all those facts. I agree with the facts. I only posted these ideas cause it was on my mind and I was thinking how cool it would be .
I'm working up in Fort Mackay right now so I was just day dreaming. Mostly about what I'm going to do when I'm home on february 27th which is probably drive this piss outa my mx-3

That's part of the issue, car companies wouldn't build or make a car unless people could buy it new. They don't make money if someone buys a used car, only the government and it's taxes.
People say the Rx8 isn't good on gas, but the G35 isn't that great either at 17/24 compared to the 8's 16/22. For the power it makes, ya, but the cars in that category got around the same. Even the S2000 sits at 17/23, despite that it's smaller, lighter and of cours fits only 2 people and makes about the same power as the 8. G35 was on my short list for an Mx-3 replacement.
You laugh at the SI, but it gets 22/31.
For your requirements, look at the 06-11 SI. 2.0L (tad bigger than the 1.8) making ZE-ish power at 197hp/139tq (Kpro unlocking 20+ hp on the stock motor), 8000rpm redline (easilly built to 9000), 6-speed, FWD, 2-door, 4-passenger coupe, LCD, sunroof and projector headlights. The only thing your missing is the oil pressure gauge, which I haven't seen stock in a car in many many years.

When I got my first v6 mx-3, i lived the sound. Even though 1.8 doesnt have power, its just awesome driving around a v6 cause to me there is a distinct feel. I bought the G35 based on price, 135,000 km mileage, looks, and the sound of its 280hp v6. "shivvers".
But ya, half a day, half a tank of gas in no time, 90$ to fill right now and still worth it
My friend ryan has an 08 civic SI thats lowered, has exhaust and cold air ad its extremely capable. But MX-3 is a generation of car just worth driving and he agree's lol.
