Honestly, I work out for myself alone. I have a lovely girlfriend who loved me equally when I was gimpy last year and couldn't walk. I decided that I would never allow an injury to best me again, and I've held to that as I hold to life itself.
I've re-sprained my ankle 3 times since last year, all doing things I love... I even injured myself last week working out(I did something stupid, and ended up flat on my back, with literally my entire back covered in one giant bruise/welt that is still as purple as it was the day it happened)

Still, I do my pullups, my pushups, and the core workouts that don't bring tears to my eyes. Yoga will wait until my back heals, but I'll be doing it again, trust me!
It doesn't hurt though, that I can take my shirt off at the lake, or while riding my bike, or even jogging, and watching somebody's gaze follow my movements.

It's a confidence booster, but it's not the reason I do it. Nobody's shallow opinion is worth you working 16 hours a week, but a goal of lifetime fitness is most definitely worth it.
I'm 22, and have no kids currently(Thank God)
Still, I intend to have a few later on in life, and I'll be fit enough to keep up with them until they're my current age. That's something worth working for, wouldn't you say?
