Re: power window swich
Wait did you just get this car? If so the owner probably put in a 95+ style switch that doesnt have wiring to send power to the passanger side, read the link i posted and check if you have a black circuit board not a green one, if so you just have to jump the wires Ill try and link the picture of what I did to mine to make it work. Child lock shouldnt matter if you could work both from the drivers side originally, thats just chasing a dead end.

Re: power window swich
Exactly. The funny thing is that Honda likes to do that, so it's possible to get mixed up. I was troubleshooting the system on my sister's '93 Prelude cause she said the exhaust shop broke it. I took the whole door pannel apart, tested the passenger side door system, ran power directly to the motor to test it, only to find out the lock out switch on the drivers side kills both passengers and drivers controls, which I found stupid, but laughed at the same time. I never would of guessed since my Mx-3 (and even my Xterra) it just locks out the controls for passenger use, but the driver still maintains control.MrMazda92 wrote:That is NOT how it's supposed to work.
Ohh ya, that's a good question. Forgot about that one.Sleeper6 wrote:Wait did you just get this car? Honda
I've never seen a car where the window lock killed the driver's lock too, except older luxury cars(I've seen a handful, they all had the switches on the center console too...)
I'll vouch for the Xterra too lol, my best friend has an '04. Bought her with ~15k miles for pennies ;D I'm happy with the handling, for an SUV. They take large sound systems well too, nothing rattles and they have great sound deadening from the factory. He's my only friend here with a bigger sub than I have. If I had the money for an SUV, I'd go that route in a second.

Re: power window swich
Indeed. awesome truck. Handling isn't that bad for a 4000lb brick with a ladder frame, torsion bars and leaf springs. Mind you, I've also got my rear sway bar removed too. It's a very tough truck. I don't have a crazy system in there, keeping it clean and high quality. I had the Rockford system in my truck and I've got a friend working on my OEM sub box to fix an aftermarket slim 10" sub in there. I use my truck as a truck, I don't want to use any space for a system. I carry enough gear like my toolbox and a bag of recovery gear and extra and larger tools and boots. My truck has been packed to the brim quite a few times, especially moving around bases, I can't imagine taking up space with a large sub box. If you're looking for something functional and not just a family mover and grocery go-getter, someone that needs something that is truck based (including the truck-like fuel economy) it's a great choice. If you want just pure indestructible, import a Nissan Patrol, you really can't get anything more tough that that, no, not even a Hilux, haha.

Re: power window swich
i dissagree about the patrol. They constantly brake down, unlike hilux's & Landcruisers. Even in the city. And they're tacky on the inside.
Do you guys not have them in the US/Canada?? Luckyy!!!
Anyway, back on topic; let us know how you go with this info, or how you do eventually get it working!!!

Re: power window swich
I find they handle VERY well compared to other vehicles their size. I drove an '01 Mercury Mountaineer until last September when I bought my MX-3, I learned to drive in a '93 GMC Suburban(She has ~225k Miles and runs like new, only lost an auto trans and fuel pump after 200k!!), and I've driven Pickups(small and large). The suburban is the only one that really compares in ride quality to the Xterra, but talk about poor economy... 15 highway with no load and a feather-foot.
You get about 20-22 highway in your Xterra huh? That's what I get in Ryan's, and almost exactly what I got in my mountaineer back when I drove it.
Also, you could vertically stack two 12" subs or build a rack up high for them. Either way, I recommend you face them towards the rear... My friend has a single 15 and it vibrates his mirrors(all 3) down. I went for a 12 in my car, and it's already too much. 2 10"s sound nicer anyway.

Re: power window swich
Nope, no Hilux, Patrols or Safari's here. Not being Nissan-biased, but I've read nothing but praise onthe Patrol. Damn, I was just as my buddies place last night and he had a 4x4 magazine from Australia that there was a whole feature on the lastest latest Patrol (before this new civilised version that's coming out) and again, nothing but praise on how well build, strong and durable it is.
There's a short wheel base 1993 Safari on sale here, he's asking C$18'900 and is probably one of the only SWB's in Canada
http://alberta.kijiji.ca/c-cars-vehicle ... Z240043214
Mountaineer/Escape/Tribuve all are good vehicles. My parents Escape milleage went down but they put in new 02 sensors and they're running about 25mpg highway again. My truck, no, I wish. I'm supercharged, I get 15-18mpg on the highway.

Re: power window swich
I loved the mountaineer, but the poor thing has something wrong with the front end now... Honestly it feels like both wheels are bent to hell, at 60+ MPH it feels like I'm trying to swerve back and forth for fun, enough that things fall out of the cup-holders when I'm on the highway. Makes me deeply regret letting her go...
Ahh, I didn't take the SC into account on mileage.

Real quick, if you relocate to the center console get a console from a Canadian SE, you can use the holes from the heated seat switches for your new window ones, without cutting up your current console! =)john1983 wrote:well you guys got way off the subject lol but anyway my circuit board is either green or brown? almost deffanate its green and yeah i thought it seemed really strange for the lock out to cut power to master sw i could understand if it was mounted on center consol wich if i dont figure out the problem i may just relocate to

thanks that could prove to be helpfull but i may go with another kind of center seems im not to fond of the shallow consol compartment or that the cup holder is just a funny ring conected to the coverjohn1983 wrote:well you guys got way off the subject lol but anyway my circuit board is either green or brown? almost deffanate its green and yeah i thought it seemed really strange for the lock out to cut power to master sw i could understand if it was mounted on center consol wich if i dont figure out the problem i may just relocate to

'94+ center consoles have the spots for the switches too... at least in the US.
Those will be easier to find.

Actually ALL center consoles in Canada have the holes for the heated seat switches, 92-96, and I'm pretty sure even the RS too.
