5th gear replacement

Post by WhiteFinish »

In order to get lower revs when cruising on the highway I want to swap in a 5th gear from a KL tranny

What part do I exactually need?
I believe i've read somewhere you could easily swap just this gear whitout tearing it apart

Thnx

A little tricky to find as its for the 4 bangers, but is pretty much the same thing

Just remember what order the stuff comes off in, and replace it the opposite way...

I actually don't have an idea if they are good and if I'm missing something (or not)

If they're from a G series going into a G series... you should have all the bits.

can't we use the 5th gear from a mx-6 for the v6 trans to lower rpms as well?

mx-6/626 5th are the exact same, and will lower it a bit from the MX-3, but its the FD ratio that makes the real difference.

You ideally want the MX-6 trans.

The "official trans swap" page had a major makeover and makes much more sense now.
