indiglo gauges (The Answer!!!)

So here goes!

Bought these of ebay, downloaded instructions and away i went. Remove all screws along with lighting cluster-self explanatory when you see it.

1. Take off the clear plastic lens, take off inner dark grey plastic housing (by pushing out plastic retaining clips around the edge.

2. Start with RPM counter, use pliers and pull out stop needle, unscrew gauge screws, slip new indiglo gauge under rev counter needle up to the turret and slide in under and pull over the back of the rev counter needle (on the turret)...job done! You may have to make the secure and alignment holes bigger in the indiglo gauge (they are at the top and bottom). (warm a bit of metal and melt it...no probs)

3. Next is the speedo (exact same as the above) Job Done!

4. Now here's the feckin issue. Do not listen to all these feckin dickheads selling this item telling you that you need to be patient and work the next indiglo gauge in!!! That is B****cks! You can't do it! (goin by the instructions i got)

5. You may be able to: (firstly remember what your fuel settin is) just incase you move the needle. Feed both needles into the turret holes (remembering that you need to put the (time) reset pole into the gauge first and then try to feed the needles in. MINE BROKE!!!!!!

6. Take a pair of scissors and cut through the old gauges (along the axis of the needles) and slid the old gauges off. Remove the screws out of the back of the cluster that hold the fuel gauge and temp gauge mechanisms.

7. Replace eveything, whilst installing the new gauges, you have a lot more flexibility getting the new gauges in and you won't break your fecking needles. NOW, WHY COULDN'T I HAVE BEEN TOLD THIS IN THE FIRST PLACE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sick of this fecking shite doing car mods. Oh aye, you get direct replacement as and advertising take on, however you have to make the fecker fit!!!

BTW, i need a fuel gauge and temp gauge mechanism from the instrument cluster of a 1994 MX3 V6.

Any info or ideas (is it repairable) would be appreciated.

I just used my common sense and had to problems I did take the temp/fuel gauges out though. Just remember not reinstall them exactly the same way.

I cut off the old gauges, but you don't need to.

Also, you can remove the illumination bulbs from the back of the cluster. No reason why not. Just electrical draw that you'll never see.

I had no problems, and you DO NOT need to remove the needles and yes you CAN work them over the stock gauges. It doesn't matter if you move the needles on any of the gauges because it's an electric cluster, technically the signal from the floater should bring the fuel needle to the appropriate position - this is the same thing as when you fill up at a gas station and then turn on the car. I did bring my needles back to the approximate position just as a safe measure. There have been a few write ups about this.

I never had to remove mine, I just wiggled the fuel and temp gauge where it would actually go beyond it's normal stop point. I have no idea how, but I was able to make it do it on mine and Kp2t's gauges. That's the only way to get the overlay on those. As well as cutting a slit at the trip reset...

I've done it twice now, no broken needles. You just angle and rotate the needles correctly so you can slide the gauge face over them. You can bend the gauge a bit.
