Anyone tryed to put 4 cyl. front struts in a v6? I figure it would work. Just wondering about how rough a ride it would be. Any input would be great.

Really? Even with the weight difference of each engine? Well, that seems funny. Oh well... Oh wait... I ment the entire a--. Like spring wise. Wouldn't the spring have to be heavier in the V6?

Struts dampen movement and stocks. The springs support the weight of the vehicle. Yes, the GS uses springs that are stiffer than the RS with a lower ride height.

Hmmmm, so in theory, i could put 4 cyl. front suspension in my v6 and it would drop.

Hmmm thats REALLY odd cause when I was getting new struts for my car when I worked at Mazda it's the exact same part number! It used to be different but then changed into 1, same with the springs!

That's probably because they're running out of stock on them.
I can't find any specific numbers, but the GS and RS do use different springs. Apparently the 90-94 Protege has 4 different rates. The GS rides lower for a better center of gravity and the stiffer springs to handle better and handle the additional weight of the V6 drivetrain. If that wasn't the case, the only difference between the RS and GS would be the crossmember and tie bar.
You can use RS suspension in a GS, but keep in mind that those springs aren't designed to handle the weight of a V6. It should and would be a much better option than heating or cutting springs
