Nd4SpdSe, I think chimp was referring to the seatbelt motor burning up.

Re: Automatic Seatbelt Recall: Lifetime Warranty?
Yeah, I was talking about the seatbelt motor. I read the document over and saw it said the motor was included, so hopefully I can get it in soon. I couldnt find a sticker that said it was fixed before too, so I should get it easily. Thanks for the help.

Re: Automatic Seatbelt Recall: Lifetime Warranty?
I think he meant motor as in the seatbelt motor, not the engine (as I thought about when I first read it too)chimp wrote:OK, that makes it better. What about the motor? Can that still fall in with the recall? It could've burnt out because of it right? I will call and see, I just want to know if I should keep pushing for it if they say the motor has nothing to do with the recall for the drivers side. Thanks once again.
Re: Automatic Seatbelt Recall: Lifetime Warranty?
So I took it and it went through smoothly. Seemed like they have gotten them before, since the guy knew what I was talking about instantly. Just got to wait for the parts to come in now.

Re: Automatic Seatbelt Recall: Lifetime Warranty?
After I talked with the guy from Mazda and faxed him the info Nd4SpdSe posted, it seems the dealer was a lot more receptive. Maybe he sent out a memo to Mazda dealers or something. Good to hear though, I'm waiting for my parts too

Re: Automatic Seatbelt Recall: Lifetime Warranty?
Well got it fixed today... only took them 3.5 hours, and a broken rear panel. Not to mention some black marks on headliner and trim.
Made me angry but at least my seatbelt works again. I made sure to point out the broken piece to the lady who replied "I don't even know if we can get those anymore"... so she should get back to me tomorrow about it. If its not one thing, its another :sigh:. Hope other people's fixes go more smoothly.

Yeah don't let them get away with that! Tell them to grab parts from a junkyard if they have to!Jovian2k wrote:Well got it fixed today... only took them 3.5 hours, and a broken rear panel. Not to mention some black marks on headliner and trim.

They said they can't get that panel anymore (which I am double checking since I don't trust them) and they will have a guy come out to repair it... we'll see.

The dealer I had my recall done at gave me fits too. Ultimately, they're legally obligated to do it but I forget the agency that you can report them too... Anyone?

In the US, first step would be reporting that local dealer to Mazda Motor Corp HQ, then next would be the Better Business Bureau. Both have websites.Icarus_27 wrote:The dealer I had my recall done at gave me fits too. Ultimately, they're legally obligated to do it but I forget the agency that you can report them too... Anyone?

Re: Automatic Seatbelt Recall: Lifetime Warranty?
Yah there is a reason for that. They are POS! My MERCURY Villager VAN has those and they hardly ever worked during winter and now don't work really at all. Dangerous. I believe the american models are the only ones that have auto belts too right? Smooth move on the engineer or designer who thought that was a great idea. I can't see them being cheaper. Not to mention them now being recalled costing dealers alot of man hours.onlytrueromeo wrote:I kinda like the auto belts![]()
I've had both, and I have to say, its nice not having to reach really far for the belt. Not that I mind that much, but the girlfriend did. She likes my car better now so that's a plus!![]()
Plus they're unique - you don't see cars with them anymore.
