Are Probe shifter bushings the same as MX-3?

Post by fowljesse »

If not, how much different are they? I'm sure the tranny side are the same.

I'm pretty sure they're the same on the tranny, but I'm wondering about the shifter itself. From what I can find, they look the same.

The ones on the tranny are definitely the same, I've used the bronzoil bushings from the MX3 on a probe.

Where the shifter meets the linkage is anyone's guess.

I was looking at making these out of Nylatron as well. I think he's overpricing them. I guess a guy's got a right to make a buck, but $45 is way too much. I was planning on asking $20. It's about $4 worth of materials.

The Bronzoil ones are a little different as the bronzoil requires a very specific machining method. This is just plastic. It machines so easy it's sick.

Interesting, he was saying it's some sort of special stuff. Also his price of $45 was for both shifter and trans. 4 bushings all up.

But if you could do it cheaper you should. Since the MX3 shifter side bushings don't actually fit, it's probably worth making up some sets for the MX3 community.

So are the bronzoil ones from Corksport better or worse?

Performance of Bronzoil vs. any nylon type product would be the same. UHMW and Nylatron are basically indestructible. Actually the Bronzoil would probably wear out first.
