AEM dual-channel UEGO to feed stock ECU?

Post by nightfire »

Hey guys,

Is anyone here running an AEM 30-2300 dual channel wideband O2 sensor/controller setup to feed a stock ECU?

http://www.aempower.com/ViewProduct.aspx?ProductID=842" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I'm thinking about buying one to replace my upstream sensors, as they're pretty worn, and it would save tapping a new sensor bung, while offering me a reliable AFR gauge. Has anyone else done this? Does it work well, or does it require constant calibration?

*edit* Also, the documentation specifies not to put the sensor less than 18" from the exhaust ports, but at least on my headers the O2 sensor is more like 12". Does anyone have any experience here? Does that extra heat damage the O2 sensors much more quickly? I don't mind changing them every 50k km or so.

I doubt anyone has.

I have run the AEM UEGO wb02 with the guage, but not a dual channel setup. Remember, our ecu's are picky, so I am not sure if this would work

okay, I have the answer to this one...

the stock o2 sensors have a range of 0-1 volts...and the aem widebands are 0-5 volts...so it won't work.

regarding the distance from the engine in the exhaust piping.....12" is fine....I have mine around there, and it has been fine for 30,000kms..

cheers.

Apparently the one I was looking at has both .. an output at 0-5V for standalones, and a 0-1V legacy for stock ECUs. From the manual:

Code: Select all

When connecting to a third party engine management system, the 0-5 volt or 0-1 volt output
should be connected to the analog O2 input of the ECU. Consult the documentation provided
with your ECU for detailed instructions.

The 5 (7 on the 30-3300) wires should be hooked up as follows:

Orange Sensor #1 0-5 Volt Output
White Sensor #1 0-1 Volt Output
Blue Sensor #2 0-5 Volt Output (on 30-2300 only)
Green Sensor #2 0-1 Volt Output (on 30-2300 only)
Brown Signal Ground (use only on systems with a differential input)
Red Switched +10 to +18 Volts (10 Amp Fuse Required)
Black Battery Ground
So it should work, in theory... but I'm just wondering if our ECUs are indeed too picky, or if there's something else that will come up. Perhaps I'll be the first to find out. :)

Good news on the O2 port location though.

hmm, that's interesting...

okay then, I think it would work. :)

I have the single channel version but I'm running it off MS.

In theory it should work with the ECU as it has both the 0-5V for aftermarket and 0-1V for factory setups.

How do you like it? Are you using it to drive a gauge as well? And, what did you do with the stock sensors? I assume you mounted the AEM downstream, near the cat?

as long as it has a 0-1v output it should be fine.
im running a plx m300 which has the 2 outputs, and i have seen no issues.

You're running those two outputs into the stock ECU's 2 heated O2 sensor inputs?

Are you using a single sensor in the downpipe or multiple sensors? Stock locations?

I was this close to ordering when I suddenly saw the MX-3 projectors came out... :)

*edit* oh..... wait. :) 4cyl, eh?
