hey guys my turbo setup is finally done but i wanna know if i can start the car... i have all stock internals with stock ze injectors and i changed my wastegate spring for a 3.5 psi spring and i dont have a wideband a/f ratio gauge i only have a narrowband a/f ratio gauge for now... and i dont have a Fuel Management Unit...will i run lean or can i relie on my narrowband a/f gauge? because i really dont wanna blow the engine... i dont wanna start over again after all that work to instal that freken trubo... please help
without some form of fuel control(apexi safc, FMU, MSnS, AEM EMS, etc) you WILL blow up your engine.
your ecu has no way of knowing when the engine is under boost, so it will not know when to add extra fuel, thus leading to lean conditions.
strangely enough, when the engine is cold, it will add enough fuel for cold start conditions to make it limp by for a couple seconds, but it will run lean under boost after being started for a minute or so.
ok but would a vortech 12:1 be just perfect? because right now i dont have money for a wideband AND a fmu... and wanna know whitch one to buy. if you tell me that with the vortech 12:1 i will be ok then i'll buy it...
Why don't you just wait driving the car and save up some money to get a good fuel computer, some upgraded injectors, upgraded fuelpomp and pressure regulator
You don't want to blow you engine because you went the cheap way.
man if you are gonna skip something.. dont skip the wideband and get megasquirt later... like next year. he only does it around once a year.
