cold air, headers, custom mandrel bent exhaust. all can be transplanted over to the KLZE if you so decide to go that route. all that would cost you around 800. best place to start.

Agreed, a proper cold air intake + headers and cat back exhaust would help plenty. You'd possibly gain 10-20HP from that. Good thing is that you can use it should you choose to do a KLZE swap.

I can recommend OBX headers. They sound really nice and free up the exhaust nicely. Don't go with just a catback exhaust though, spend $300 and have a whole new setup fabbed up at a muffler shop. It might be a little more with a muffler.

Do that, and a cold air intake. You'll free up a few horsepower, and improve throttle response. Unfortunately there isn't a whole lot you can do to the K8 for cheap to get more power out of it. The best route is definitely to do the KLZE swap. That should give you over 200hp at the crank and it'll make the car way more fun.

If your really motivated, you could also put in a KLDE (It's cheaper and easier to get) Then turbo it.

So the KLZE headers or probe headers will work in a K8 mx-3??

yes, they will work for the klze, k8, klDE, kfze, etc etc.

you could always just turbo your k8 like me for 200WHP FTW! ;)

My ZE swap was literally my first modification for more power. I didn't even have an intake or exhaust. It was my second performance modification only to my CorkSport strut bars.

Stock internals on his...cost is between 1500 and 3000+ depending on what you use for fuel management, hot pipes, intercooler and turbo - ebay will be cheap but isn't necessarily the best quality.

If you don't have any experience w/ turbo's, I'd read alot before going any further with it. A ZE swap on the other hand is much easier. Alot less opportunity to FUBAR your engine.

isnt the k8 internal all forged? y is the KLZE such a better engine? isnt is the same block just bored out? i have a reasonable amount of knowledge with reference to turboing and super charging i have thought of putting a g60 SC on it mount the SC where the batery and water bottles are and re-locat them in the boot. just as a bit of a project i have done the above mods i have ze headers and costom fabed exhaust straght through stainless pipe No cat. and custom cold air intake with green stuf filter. and have now lowered the car all round?

Hei mod helps. Go KLZE, more bang for your buck and it's a straight foreward install. Turbo is fine if your engine is low k's but then you'll need to install a stronger clutch so that means pulling the trans so what the hay you might as well do an engine swap. Ebay headers $155 with crossover delivered and they work nice. PM me if you can't fine them. The company is motorsport some damn thing or another.

Except for the block the KLZE is quite different. It uses higher compression pistons, and different heads and cams. It's 2.5L (the extra torque is great) and the power surge continues well up into 7000rpm. It's the single best thing I ever did on my car.
