My audio project, your opinion?

I'm planning and installing an audio system for a ladyfriend, and I am going to ask your opinions, because I trust you guys, and at least some of you will have more experince than I in the car audio industry

She is in it for the sound, she does like it loud, but she's also concerned about money(~$1000 - $1500) and the 'coolness' factor.

I was planning on using Ebay, and some good wiring kits, build my own boxes... and my electronics knowledge.

Don't know yet. Could even be stock. Yeah yeah I know thats a crappy option, but its an 7th gen civic, and if you put in another headunit, it will look rather silly. She's also decided to go to Europe, so who knows how long this will get put off.
