Best tuning option for 1992 KL-ZE mx3?
I'm picking up a new MX3 with kl-ze swap this week and it's otherwise stock. I'd like to make my own intake, exhaust and purchase some sort of tuning device for it.
I've heard mention of "probinators" and I'm familiar with S-AFC's but I was wondering what you guys think would be the best tuning option for this set-up.
Thanks in advance.
Matty

I'm not interested in a full standalone on an already flawless daily driver. I am looking for something to give me a few extra hp, maybe bump the timing a bit.
Any suggestion that doesn't involve building an ecu and tuning it from scratch?

map-ecu piggyback
safc wont do anything for the klze
and if you already have a klze ecu, the the probinator chip isn't really going to give you that much more hp

so you're suggesting I should get an ecu and run off a MAP sensor and then some sort of tuner for it? Seems complicated for minimal gains.
I'll take your advice and steer away from the afc and probinator.
Thanks.

well map-ecu is a piggyback system that will still allow you to adjust fuel and spark, you just dont have as much freedom as the megasquirt. the good thing about map-ecu is it will record data being sent from the ecu to the engine, so you can get your base maps from the ecu itself

I'm assuming "map-ecu" is the name of the product? I'll google it and see what I come up with. All I want to do is slightly tweak a good base map. I don't want to risk screwing with drivability for a few hp.

Find out what ECU, MAF, and IM you have. If it's set up right, you can't realisticly do more as far as tuning, other than mentioned. Maybe you've got 2.5" exhaust? If not, get headers, and 2.5 all the way, and there is boundless info about cold air intakes here.

You could get some coltcams, fpr or other small things.
