Open or Recirculated wastegate?

ok so soon i will be turbocharging my mx3 with a klde. I just came across something that i didnt think of, whether to recirculate the wastegate or run it into the atmosphere. I hear alot of people saying that if you route it into the downpipe then it will effect ur hp, as to where you have a open wastegate and can gain 30hp from it. I heard it is ridiculously loud and i think it would only effect exhaust flow if your pushing like 350 or 400 hp. Just wanted to see what other peoples oppinions are on here.

Mine is vented to atmosphere, and it isn't THAT loud...besides, you shouldn't be boosting in residential areas anyway, so it shouldn't matter. :)

It's only loud when you hit max boost, and my car at max boost is way scary and fast for city driving :) sorta :wink:

you heard right that it wont make a noticeable difference unless you are making a higher amount of power
but ive never heard of anybody gaining anywhere near 50whp or even 50hp to the crank off of switching to a dump tube
if you dont point the dumptube straight at the ground it wont be as loud either, but to be honest dump tubes usually sound nice, yeah they are louder but not to the point where its going to hurt your ears or be undriveable

I will be running the divorced wg on my rs as well. I've seen a couple mk3 supras running them... very nice.

I have read that the external dump of the wg can (in some cars) cause a false knock. I'm sure it will be fine. But just incase your knock sensor goes nutz, you'll know why.

luckily I don't have a knock sensor anymore ;)

lol ok thanks for all the info i think im gonna go with open wastegate. I have heard some videos with them and they sound really cool.

i know it's not the best reference, but it's the only vid i got with my opened WG.(blue)
you'll probably wont hear it a lot, but between the squeeling tire and the LOUD ze exaust(black) you'll hear a sound difference in first&second gear.
