suspension noise

i recently bought a 92 mazda mx3 GS and the front suspension makes a suspicius popping noise occasionaly when i hit a bump, sometimes it can be quite loud. im not very expeirienced with suspensions so my best guess was bad shocks, but they dont have any excessive play or bounce so im inclined to think its something else, could anyone help with some advice?

I'm no suspension expert either, but perhaps a worn ball-joint, or bad constant-velocity joint.

Check your sway bar end links. On every mx3 i have owned they were worn out and when you hit a bump at slow speed could hear a metal to metal pop.
