Wankel Engine.
Well just came to mind that my friend's friend has a Wankel engine. I've seen it once and I didn't take note to how it mounted in there, I'm sure it was entirely different from a MX-3. I am just wondering how possible it would be to take the engine and EVERYTHING else from the 86 RX-7 and make it into a project for an MX-3. I know it must sound stupid... but I am just wondering.

Re: Wankel Engine.
Do you know of anyone who has done this modification, so I could get an estimate for the frabrications. I am figuring that it would be pricey. Around 1,000 or more?monty73741 wrote:yes u can but there are alot of custom fabricating in vovledsteckino wrote:Well just came to mind that my friend's friend has a Wankel engine. Look more specifically at the adapter kit for the 323.. it should work with only minor modifications (if any) And... while I could be wrong here.. I think if it can adapt a 12a.. you should be able to use the kit (again with possible modifications) to adapt in a 13b.

4 grand??? Did you call that site and ask or something? Just curious
And it doesnt surprise me that putting in a Rotary would be expensive.. if it was cheap.. someone would have done it a long time ago LOL

I have no idea on costs, but anything can be done with enough $$$. I love the rotary too, so I got me an rx-7 to go along with my mx-3.

i've been saying it for years that you can swap a rotory in an mx3 using the kits they make for 323s, you'd only need slight modifications and i still believe you can do it keeping it fwd.
Idealy you would want it to be rwd, but the easiest way i figure to do that is to get a awd 323 and use the car just for parts, swap over rears, then get you a 2nd gen rx7 setup cut and fab up a new firewall around the transmission.
If you have the right connections i could see this swap being possible for less than 10k BUT 10k put into a kl motor would yield more power as this is just getting a basic 13b single turbo in the car, but the rotory would make far more power later down the road

Yeah.. my friend has 2 86 RX-7's just sitting in his yard... one has a wiring problem and won't start while the other one hit a telephone pole in the rear end.... :sigh:... he spun himself around for reference... lol
