Interchangeable Parts....

Post by Napalm7629 »

I have heard of various part that are interchangeable such as throttle bodies from the 4 cyl. mx-3 being replaced with the 5mm larger v6. Are there any parts that would interchangeable with a 94' 1.6L DOHC? Anything such as injectors, throttle bodies, fuel pumps, or just about anything else.

Uhoh. Risking righteous noob-torching asking a generalized question w/o searching the 4 Cyl Tech/Perf forum 1st. If you've already done so, my apology & would help to state so in your post. Here's a friendly supportive mild singe. Writer not liable for potential loss of eyebrows  A gargantumegahumongosoidal amt of info 's been written, argued, traded, decided on this topic. A few threads below are a sampling. Recommend using search link http://www.mx-3.com/phpbb2/search.php entering keywords like: swap dohc parts, select "search for all" & the 4 Cyl Tech/Perf Forum. http://www.mx-3.com/phpbb2/viewtopic.ph ... dohc+parts

Read these and others, won't take long, make a few notes & come back with specific Q's to fill in the gaps - you'll get useful responses. Ultimately you'll end up cking some Miata boards/forums too as many swappable stock & aftermkt 1.6 DOHC parts are those from/for a B6ZE motor in 90-93 Miatas. btw, my research fwiw has ruled out a swappable TB upgrade from any other motor into the 1.6 B6DE DOHC but would love to get proved wrong since I've the same engine & stage 2 cam re-grinds en route... Ya also don't really need a TB swap, the 55mm TB in our engine is generously sized & not a major gain area of modification. A larger TB would risk robbing low end torque by slowing intake velocity. (ya do get points for asking that specific Q tho.) :D

Safety tip: Don't post same Q on the Miata Bds w/o searching their forums. Miata owners are numerous and some can be cranky. Usually enough are lurking & hungry for fresh meat to get together a posse hit squad sent to burn your house down and have a BBQ for not doing a lil homework first. Lotsa great ppl (here and there) will help you but it's to your advantage to be specific and as informed as possible by reading what's been written. E.g. on http://forum.miata.net/ you're warned "If you won't do anything else, at least read the MX-5 Miata Forum FAQ. If you post a question that is already answered in the FAQ, you will be teased, ridiculed, laughed at, and probably won't feel too comfortable on the forum."

g/l, read some, show whatchu got, & don't be a stranger... :)
