Cheaper since the KL's are much more common than the K8. (Probe, Mx-6, Millenia, 626). The only things that are different from the DE to the ZE is the head intake runners, intake manifold to match the head runners, Higher-compression pistons, and cams (unless you get the Millenia ZE). Even then, all the external components to the motor (starter, pumps, belts and pullies) are the same between the KL and K8 (and KF) anyway.

They don't have to know, and if your a good driver, they shouldn't have to care. There are only a few minute difference you can tell from the engine bay, and that's only if you know what to look for. Unless you know k-series motors, you can't tell. If you tell insurance companies, they'll probably drop you. I know they dont like to insure vehicles with aftermarket boost kits.

No need if the motor is runing properly, even without without the EGR. My old K8 failed e-test and I paid for the excepted pass (back then it was only $200). My ZE has passed twice so far, both as a K8

Nothing really or any different than the K8, and nothing spefically wrong with 94 Mx-3s. Most recalls where for the 92-93's, and for minor stuff (auto-belts, alternator, springs)
