Re: B6T motor and all necessary components
What I mean by complete kit is this:
You will receive a complete B6T motor in working order, that means this one will receive new pistons, headgasket and be put back together and tested by the shop I deal with. On top of that, you will receive:
-lengthened and modified stock harness
-330cc injectors
-rx-7 MAF sensor
-j pipe
-downpipe
-intercooler
-intercooler pipes
-Everything that would be needed to drop the motor in and start it for the '92-93 SOHC
Start adding up the cost of everything and you will find it a good price. Corksport sells this motor, by itself, for $799 USD. This means no harness, no MAF, etc.
The $700 is for a complete motor, same as above but lacking all the pieces to drop it in and start. Again, new pistons, headgasket and assembled and tested by the shop.
For $400, you basically get a box of parts and you assemble it, take care of the honing, decking, assembly, etc.
The problem initially with the motor was poor tuning on my part, leaned out the #1 and 2 pistons, cracking them. I spent the whole summer rebuilding the motor, only to have an entire set of pistons fail during break in. The motor never saw over 4500rpm, never went above 4psi, was driven in 3rd and 4th most of the time to limit the stress on the motor and never saw above 1200*F for EGT. For a motor to destroy its pistons due to detonation, EGTs are in or above the 1650* range. The pistons that failed are being inspected today by the rep and I should have results later in the day. This means I may have a brand new set to put in. Other options for those willing to buy the motor and have me do the work are to replace the 2 old pistons with new factory replacements, or I can get a set of 7.8:1, 9:1 or 9.4:1CR pistons thru Mazdamotorsports. Your choice.
Shop around. You want to ****er on the price, go ahead. I will accept reasonable offers.

Re: B6T motor and all necessary components
Thats cool that you are a mountain biker, one of my goals is to make it out to the North Shore someday. I currently have 4 bikes in my dorm room and its kind of pissing my roomates off so if I can sell a couple of them I would definitely be interested in your motor if you haven't already sold it. I can't beleive that you can get all that work done so cheaply, it would probably cost close to a grand to have that done in the states-it seems like up north the shops don't bend you over as much as they do here. A couple questions: as far as the fuel computer goes, would that be like an Apex-i SAFC? Would there be anything else I would need to change in order to make it run and drive reliably in my DOHC?

quote:
You want to ****er on the price

A better word would be "haggle" I suppose. (Jeff, which ever program you are now using sure is quick to catch things, I didn't even spot it.)
S-AFC will work afaik, I would suggest using a MAP sensor to trigger it though. You would need a larger fuel pump, stronger clutch, gauges, etc. to go above 150whp safely.

Re: B6T motor and all necessary components
I priced out shipping charges for the complete motor. The motor would be packaged in a 3x3x3 crate weighing in around 300lbs at the most. From Saskatoon to NY, shipping is $526 USD..ouch. Good ol' NAFTA, eh? It surprised me because when I purchased the motor from Nova Scotia, shipping was $180 CDN insured. Even now, my new project would be $150 CDN insured from Toronto. Although from So Cal it was $350 USD.
Since shipping is such a PITA, I am willing to adjust the prices a little more. If you are interested in the motor or any part that I have listed several times in the posts above, email me off list about the part and what you would like to pay. I would like to get rid of this asap.

Re: B6T motor and all necessary components
If there's no more interest shown in this motor, complete or otherwise, I will probably part it out and list on Ebay by Monday. If you are still contemplating things, let me know.

Re: B6T motor and all necessary components
Sorry.. I'll go with Bp-T instead.
Funny.. either I turbo charge my sohc, or I swap.. That's are the things I wonder about.
So, if you part, contact me back, that would be a must for me.
Your b6t was suppose to push 180whp?

Re: B6T motor and all necessary components
If your going with the BP, what good are B6 parts??
And yes, the motor was good for 180whp easily. A buddy of mine with a 323GT, same mods, 16psi, vj-11 turbo, stock head was hitting 195whp on the dyno. I had maxed out by previous injectors at 155whp and the 330s weren't quite cutting it anymore. Re: B6T motor and all necessary components
What would you want from the motor? I would consider selling it directly before going on ebay if you know what you want.
