Dont mold front kit

So just a quick note that ive been told by many import inthusiats is not to mold the front bumper..cuz it causes lots of problems and s---..and kills the value of the vehicle...IMO

Why is that?

The only reason I know of to not mold the bumper is because at high speeds the bumper will flex. If its molded on you may develop cracks where you molded.

What other problems does it cause and why would it kill the value of the vehicle? I think it looks good and smooth...

The problem is flex, not just the bumper, but the whole car. The car isn't one solid brick, the whole car has some amount of flex. When turning, breaking, accelerating, even temperature changes will cause parts to expand and contact. Unfortunately, paint and bondo dont like to flex, what going to happen is that you'll get cracks and never ending cracks. in the joints between the 2 pieces. It'll be like painting a balloon, sure at first it'll look good, but as it flexes, it'll crack.

well if you mold the front bumper good luck working on anything that might require removing the bumper for easier access.. also turbo will be harder if you want to do a front mount intercooler

you got that right, the front bumper is the only thing not molded on my car and thank god it's like that. You don't want to know how many times I've removed that bumper !

its also a huge pain in the a-- if you need to repair any molded part, have to "unmold" the bumper, fix the cracks or whatever, remold it then you have the fun job of blending the paint, and if you have some funky paint like trvors your in for a big bill, headache and waiting, the paint will not match due to it being sprayed different. only thing being molded on my car is the side skirts to the front fenders and that is it.

Well of course you CAN mold them, the fact is, DON'T mold them, like babyblue said...if you trully mod your car, do you realize how many times you'll have that front bumper off? Mold the side and back, only things you really shouldn't be taking off much LOL

Ya the front molded bumper looks smooth.but becomes a pain in the a-- if you want to do an engine swap..or get a lil crack..If my bumper gets screwed over,im going to have to repaint my car,becuz the paint is gonna be almost impossible to matchm becuz i have metal flake and a custom paint job,so ya...Makes things much easyer when you dont mold it,,it should only be sides and back and it would do wonders..Just a lil advice..ull have to figure out how to do a front mount with out takin the bumper off..it will suck when i do the bpt..good thing ill get a shop to do it
