tranny starting to go

Post by fieromx3 »

well to day when i went to drive my hold button started flashing still is and wont stop. i took it out for a spin and the tranny seems to be hold mode and wont shift till about 5000 rpm, the cel light is now permanantly on what do u guys think?

it was also rebuilt about 10,000 kms ago but i admit i definitely was not easy on it and i dont got a cooler. also the fluid is red and topped up(checked when hot) and i took the positive off the battery to reset the ecu if it does do that and still is the same

I dont think its the transmission..pull codes...when a tranny goes.. it will ignore the gear and go into neutral as far as automatic. Check the transmission cable if theres one..i bet its loose.. dont m,x3s have transmission ecus? all i can say is i doubt its the tranny itsself..why would hold flash and then u get a cel?

umm, did you use the engine (cel) code, or the trans (hold) code?
check the auto section of the online manual, but i think the procedure goes something like...
disconnect battery
depress brake for a bit
jump ATM? & GND
reconnect battery
turn ignition
read codes (hold light)

i've posted the correct procedure before (if this isn't it)
