Engine Mounts (PART 2) Anyone go ADVICE on buying!?!?!?!?!?

Post by Juans_93_MX3 »

It turns out, the engine mounts that I just got from AutoZone werent the right ones.
The mounts were for a 93 MX3 GS (V6) which my car is but since my car was made during the middle of the year 1993 (I think), it turned out I had to go with the engine mounts from 1994 MX3 GS.

The sad part is that I am not sure if my car was really made in the middle of 1993. The person at AutoZone said it's most likely the reason why the new engine mounts that I just got today werent as same as the stock broken mounts that came with the car.
He also said that some cars out there have the same problem espically if they were made sometime in the middle of the year. Like a 94 car may have some parts from the 95 models yet have parts that dont match the 94 models.

Did I do the right move by ordering 1994 MX3 GS Engine Mounts? Oh, by the way, out of the 3 mounts that I got, only one of the three matches with one of my broken mounts. The rest didnt, they just looked different.

Also, it turns out that the new engine mount that matched my old broken one, was also used on the 94 models.

What do you guys think?

I broke a front one while changing a clutch and the ONLY place you can get a stock replacement is through mazda. I tried several parts stores and nothing was right. The one place that got close had their part numbers mixed up and it turned out that mount was for the 4-cylinder car.
I had to go straight through mazda and pay 105.10 w/tax for an actual mazda one.
Hope this helps,

Well, the mx-6 one which was the closest but not quite was like 115 before tax at the parts store. So I don't think they mark it up any more than autozone would, but it's still annoying because it's a guaranteed special order deal.

Forgot to ask you but did you try AutoZone?

More bad news,
Just found out my car was made on October 1992. I guess I will just wait and see if the 94 mounts will work. If they dont I will check the 92 mounts

By the way, I know there are 4 mounts but my mechcanic said we only need 3. I will try to post a pic in a hour of my 3 broken mounts

I did try autozone, o'reilly, automotive supply, advance, etc. Nobody had or could get the front mount. The only place that could get it was Mazda.

Ok, just tried the 1994 parts, none of the two matched
I only have 1 part that matched and that was from the 1993 Models (post pics later on)

Right now I am going to Checker and see what they got, no godamn way I am going to pay $300 bucks for engine mounts

Times like these are the times I wish I knew how to weld.
