HID: OEM vs PnP

Post by mx3frik »

Hello all,

Came across this thread at my leisure reading, really don't want to start a debate again with whether plug-and-play HID is as good as OEM.

http://www.hidplanet.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=5092

it's just for reference and encourage retrofits :) really if you get good deals retrofits can be as cheap as PnP kits.

cheers,

Eugene

New name in there that I haven't seen - Valeos??

Eugene, you up to doin a retro-fit if I supply you with all the goodies (Hella 90mm's x2 should be good for starters). I got a funny feelin I wont have the patience to be carefull enough to grind down all of the ribbing/flutes inside the stock lense. Use a clear GTS cover you say...no problem, should be arriving within a week. How's your creative juices anyway???

BTW, excellent article to educate the masses in the folly of P-n-P

This one is courtesy of Ascari_2 from HIDPlanet.com Stanley Bi-Xenon projectors from Acura TL into a Supra. This one shows a true beauty of OEM HID. And I am sure now someone can figure out why HID's look blue to an oncoming driver but not from behind the wheel.

Valeo is a French/Belgian car parts manufacturer that has seen a fair share of OEM lighting market. From what I can remember the following cars (not all models) use or used their HID lights. Audi A4 (Halogen and HID), Saab, Porsche Cayenne.

PS: John, I have a spare pair of Hella 90mm low beam projectors that I do not think I will need. Thay are an H9 DOT Halogen variety and are brand new, never installed, have bulbs and adjusters.
