Oops, I just realized I posted this in the wrong forum... I'll re-post here where it should be.
I have a 4cyl '92 MX-3 with 206,000kms on it.
I just had it towed to a garage this morning, and I'm pretty sure that the transmission is going to need to be replaced.
Haven't heard back about how much this is going to cost, yet.
Is it worth it to replace the transmission on such an old car? It's in otherwise great condition. Can it keep going for another 100,000kms? Or is it time to say good-bye to my MX-3?
Automatic Transmission - worth it to replace?

Kinda depends really.. if the car is in excellent condition mechanically with the only problem being the transmission.. well.. replacing the trans would be cheaper than buying a new car
I'd get a full mechanical check done on it from Engine to Suspension .. might cost a few more bucks.. But at least it will give you an idea of what else might need attention.

HOPE THIS HELPS..
I have a 93 RS model and I bought the car, knowing it had a bad transmission. However,, I knew that besides a busted tranny, the car was all around a near flawless vehicle, so, 2 weeks ago, I ordered a tranny from car-parts.com for $400 and it only had 77,000 miles on it. It was a additional $75 to have it shippped to my mehcanic and the labor for the install was $500, but that included installing a new filter and of course the "must have" .. transmission cooler. I bought the plate and fin type for $50 at Autozone.
So, in my opinion, I consider it a wise investment that I made at a little over $1100 all together because it is a rare car and I really like my ride alot.
