atx to mtx swap question

hey i have a 93 gs and am upgrading to a 5 speed, not too sure and could not really find out what i need to know so. will the parts needed for the swap work in the mx3 if i pull them from a mx6 or probe, like the clutch master and slave cylinder, the pedal assembly, shifter linkage etc. for those who have done this swap. thanks for the help.

Not to get you down but I have converted three auto trans cars to manual and let me let you know that if you don't have alot of patience and have an exact diagram of where to install each part (mostly the shifter, shift linkage and clutch) you are looking at a big headache not to mention it can be real costly. If I was you I would go to a trany rebuild shop or just a trany shop to see if they have an install kit for it. If you can not find an install kit I would junk that car and get one already equiped with a manual trany. good luck if you decide to try it. the three cars were an 84 camaro z28, a 67 camaro and a 93 plymouth laser.

I will have to disagree with the post above.

When we did the Auto-Manual conversion with my engine swap-- it was VERY straight-forward.

As far as if the stuff from the Probe or MX-6 will fit-- I dont know. I got all my conversion stuff from another 4-cyl MX-3 that was manual.

The MX-3 has all the blanks and plate covers for the manual stuff to go in place of the Auto stuff.

well i know it wont be easy but its also set up for the stuff anyways, i have to pull the klze out again, and there will be 2 or 3 of us working on multiple things on the car. i have done too much work to this car to get rid of it just to buy another one. and i wouldnt get anything for it since the klze cooked the atx, took five months to do it as well. i am heading to a pick a part, there are no mx3's there but there is one mx6 with all the parts minus the tranny, i am going next weekend so i need to know if anyone has done this, i am also going to try and cross refference part numbers. thanks for the help.

The PGT/MX6 Shift linkage and pedal assembly is different. Slave cylinder is the same, As for the Master Cylinder I'm not 100% sure if there is a difference between the ATX and MTX. I think the bottom line is capped off that goes to the Clutch master cylinder. As for the Clutch Master Cylinder I can't answer that, you would think they are the same.

well found out some parts are the same off the mx6, just thougt about the wiring harness, do i have to pull my 93gs atx wiring harness out to replace with a mtx harness. heading down in a couple of days to pick up some parts, thanks.
