Post by GeO »

How much would it cost to switch from a auto to a manual ?? Would the price vary if i gathered parts from a junkyard?

It depends. Shop around. My brother-in-law did a wuto-to-maunal swap on his 90 Integra last year. He won the tranny on eBay for like $175, then the guy was nice enough to throw in all the extra stuff he'd need for a conversion for $25. That included a new foot pedal cluster, stick shift, all the rods from the stick to the tranny, clutch cable......everything.
So $200, and I think he only charged $75 to freight it on DHL from New Jersey to Vegas.
Realistically, though, you're probably talking $500 for the tranny and parts and $125 for a simple clutch kit. Then labor if you're not DIY'ing it.
It worked fine. The computer just threw a check-engine light until he found a manual tranny computer.
[ August 29, 2003: Message edited by: lakersfan1 ]

the cost for parts should be around $500-800 if you know where to shop around (car-parts.com and nopionline.com) and if you call around, you'll find a few shops that'll do the conversion for around $350-500 USD. well those were the cheapest that i could find.
