Problems with the bolt on turbo

Post by mazda20 »

Okay I know these are all tuning problems, but I need a little help trying to figure out which ways to handle them.
First Problem: Since the turbo project the car idles up and down and then sometimes dies.
Second Problem: Since I added the Apexi S-AFC now when I am going down the road and just crusing (not pushing any boost) the check engine light comes on. Then when I accelerate it goes back off.
I have tried adjusting the idle with no success, maybe I am not persistent enough.
Any help would be appreciated.

I am running it with FL8. Do you think this making the difference?

it could be. we(94+) have a hotwire maf so we need the "hw" sensor #'s.
Fast imports only come on two wheels.

Something else to check is if you have any leaks in your i/c pipes. I haven't had any problems with the s-afc causing poor idle. Mine worked just fine for the 2 days that I had it installed before the motor decided to go south on me. If you have the '92-93 with the S-AFC, try fl8. If you are running the larger fc3s maf, also try fl5-7.

Since we have the hot wire MAF what number should we use, According to Apexi's instructions the B6 Familia type uses the FL8, so I don't know.

Nobody has been able to help me with the settings either. You just have to start with HW1 and go thru all of em to see if they work. What wire did you splice into for the MAF wire? was it 2O? Oh and dont even bother callin Apexi... They are NO help. Only use the hw settings...

Okay I changed those settings (HW-11) and for the most part it runs good, but on deceleration I still have problems to fine tune the dec-Air setting, can someone explains this part to me because the manual is worthless.

I don't know what the deal is with this thing, Now when boost release it pratically dies it seems like it is getting way to much fuel and bogging down. Does anyone one else getting this?
