I'm also soon do replace the outer c/v boot. Is that pretty straigt foward. Any tricks to it?

unless you caught the tear in the boot early the joint inside is most likely junk. 99% of people just replace the whole cv joint assembly and don't repair the boot.

I think AUTOboZONE has CV axles rebuilt for like $70 a piece with a lifetime warranty, so that is the route I would recommend...
