Please help!!!! I have taken my car to numerous mechanics and dealers and NO one can help with the problem. I believe they think I am making it up. I have a 1992 MX-3 V6
The car stalls out completely but only after I have driven it for a long distance, let's say 30 to 45 minutes and only when I go to take an exit off of the highway. As soon as I press on the brake and then press the clutch in it will just stop. It will start right back up and proceed as if nothing happened. Awhile back I had the distributor replaced. I have been told it is the clutch and then it is not the clutch. I have also been told the only way to determine what the problem is, is for the problem to happen while they have the car hooked up to a diagnostic machine. Can any one help me? I have had this car for 12 years and would like to keep it a while longer...this is the only problem I have had with it in all this time. Thanks
Car Stalls Out
Re: Car Stalls Out
when you start it and let it sit to idle does it stall?
sounds vaccum related to me. I had bad intake with some cracks in the plastic. so had it replaced and it worked fine after that.

Re: Car Stalls Out
92 v6? I had the exact same prob.
Most likely it is a vaccum problem.
Check the hose that connects to your airbox filter and the engine. Its a plastic/rubber piece that looks kinda like an accordian. If it is the hose then it'll have a crack or a hole in it.
Tell me if that helps.
PS. That peice is a 120$ from the dealership, if it is the problem you can get it off of a member of this board for maybe 20$ or you can rap it up heavily in tape.
