coolant reservoir relocation question

Post by Falstaff »

does the coolont bottle have to be the same height in relation to the radiator? i moved the bottle and positioned it lower than its original location and i was wondering if that would affect it at all or if there was any relation to the coolant level in the resevoir and its position (height) in relation to the rad.<P>thx.

Since the coolant system is pressurized, no it doesn't matter. The tank is only used to relief fluid to it when the pressure setpoint in the radiator cap is reached and to allow the vacuum in the system to draw fluid from the tank when fluid gets low.

probably to mount a perfect ram air system? the coolant resevoir takes up too much space.

I thought the same thing as MS Steve. My question is where can I get a Rad. cap that allows coolant flow both ways but maintains pressure in the system. Also, where did you relocate it to? My first thought is in the fender well but that's just a guess. Later :)

You don't need to relocate it, u should be able to fit your air filter down there, trust me I fit my 6X9 K&N filter down there. :D
